So far So Good
from Sunrise Beach, MO
Comments about 50 Gallon - 40,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater:
Just got converted to natural gas. I have 2 houses next door and had to retrofit both as they were not set up for gas chimnies. Power Vent was my only choice if I wanted to convert to gas. I bought the 50 gallon model for each house. They seem very efficient and the time to get from fresh cold water to the average 125 temp was about 25 minutes. When it does cycle, its not for long as it seems to heat water very fast. Main draw back is the noise from the blower. It litterly sounds like a hair dryer. If you can locate this thing in an area that will not bother you from noise, its a great deal. Take into consideration that there is noise on the inside from the blower motor. There is also noise on the OUTSIDE from the exhaust vent which is nearly the same level of noise. Consider your placement of the exhaust vent before you install taking into consideration your next door neighbor. While you may have found a good spot inside, your vent will also put off some major noise. If it points at a neighbor's house, you will be in trouble as it will keep your neighbor up at night when cycling. Good news, it doesnt cycle very long. Knowing what I know now, I would flip a coin and go either way if I still had the chance. Over all, other than noise, a good product..
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great water heater works perfect.
from Seattle, WA
I bought this product to vent outside the house because we want to remove a chimney. It works just like our last gas water heater. Same temps, same recovery, we don't notice any difference which is good. It was easy to install. The only drawback is the powered vent has an electric fan that makes a bit of noise. Our water heater is in the basment and with the upstairs door closed we don't hear it but it is something to keep in mind if installing it on a main floor.
I would buy this product again

Comments about 50 Gallon - 40,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater (LP Gas):
When I built my house 15 years ago I installed an AO Smith power vent hot water heater. It was still working but was becoming less efficient because of hard water deposits. I replaced it with a proven product and expect 15 years of perfect device like the first one.
No problems. Easy to adjust.
I will buy this water heater again

great hot water, easy installation
from granby, MA
i replaced my instantaneous heater with this unit. Now I can run several taps at once at still an economical cost. Service was prompt and friendly and the installation was easy. Great tank and company.
Overall, a pretty close to identical replacement for my last AO Smith. PEX supply had an excellent price compared to others, and free shipping. One small drawback; I had to be there to accept the product because the delivery company would not unload it from the truck. All in all, a good purchase experience. My last AO Smith lasted 8 years. I'm hoping to extend this one's life by replacing the anode after 5 years. The old one that I pulled out was completely gone.
