Description for AO Smith GPVT-40

The ProMax Power Vent water heaters have been engineered to maximize efficiency and deliver a greater energy factor (EF).

Features

  • Energy Star Qualified
    • All models meet the September 2010 Energy Star® EF requirement and may also qualify for local utility and rebate programs
    • Dynaclean II dip tube optimizes inlet water pressure to minimize cold water regions within the tank. The self-cleaning action also reduces sediment accumulation on the bottom of the tank.
    • Hot-surface ignitor is more robust and reliable than standing pilot, and reduces energy consumption.
    • Built-in heat traps on the water inlet and outlet reduce the amount of heat lost through piping
    • 2-inch, thick, "Environmentally-Friendly" foam insulation reduces the amount of heat loss and contributes to overall energy efficiency
  • Versatile Power Vent Design
    • All models feature an exclusive 3-position rotatable blower outlet which adds flexibility
    • Combined horizontal and vertical vent runs up to 180 equivalent feet with 4" diameter venting (ABS, PVC, CPVC and polypropylene)
    • All models are equipped with a protected sensor that detects the presence of flammable vapors and automatically disables the burner to prevent ignition
    • Air intake snorkel elevates the inlet location of combustion air to prevent flammable vapors from entering the sealed combustion chamber
    • Reduced NOx emissions comply with air quality management district regulations
  • User-Friendly
    • State-of-the-art electronic gas control provides more precise temperature control
    • LED control light displays operation status and diagnostics information
    • Factory-installed T&P and a durable, tamper-resistant brass drain valve are positioned for service accessibility
  • Available in Natural Gas and Propane
  • 6 year limited tank and parts warranty

PLEASE NOTE: The product weighs 176 lbs. and may require the use of a
    lift gate.
If you do require a lift gate at your delivery, you'll have the option to add this FREE of charge when you checkout.

One mo th of hot warer and happy

By Happy to be showering again

Comments about 40 Gallon - 50,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater (LP):

So far very satisfied. On installation we had a non water heater problem- turned out nesting mice in the flue were to blame for us purchasing a new heater. So upon installation out new unit did not work either. Customer service was very helpful in helping us resolve the problem. Our old Rudd tank was 15 years old so probably going to replace it soon. Was surprised though to discover delivery was via a semi. So had to have tank delivered where we could transfer it from their truck. Otherwise I believe we would have had a delivery fee, but never inquired about it.

Comments about 40 Gallon - 50,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater (NG):

Installed this water heater on 11/18/2015, replacing a 21 year old Bradford White. So far the AO Smith has performed perfectly. On the lowest Hot setting, the water is VERY hot and the recovery rate is much better than the Bradford.

Heats up fast

By Jeff

from Pennellville NY

Verified Buyer

Comments about 40 Gallon - 50,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater (LP):

This water heater does heat up fast. It satisfied within about an hour and a half once first turned on. It is a little loud but it sits in the basement so not a problem for me. Very easy to install and recovers fast as well. This replaced a conventional water heater that lasted 29 years hopefully this one will last as long ??

Power vent water heaters generally have blower motors that allow them to exhaust horizontally out side walls. They still pull combustion air from indoors. Direct vent units also have blowers, but they have a second vent pipe for bringing intake air from outdoors.

The minimum clearance venting requirement for windows which can be opened is 4ft below or to the sides of the opening and 1ft above. For permanently closed windows a minimum of 1ft on all sides is required.

  • 40 Gallon - 50,000 BTU ProMax Power Vent Residential Gas Water Heater (NG)

    Q:

Hi, I would like to know if this heater draws intake air from the outside of the house. Thanks,Carl
Asked on 8/31/2012 by termite from reading PA

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Power vent units like this one draw combustion air from inside the house. Direct vent models bring intake air from outdoors and require either a second protrusion from the building or a concentric vent kit in order to do this.
