I bought this water heater because of the 10 yr warranty and it's made in the USA. AO Smith is a reccommeded water heater by many master plumbers for it's reputation. I do a lot of home remodeling and installed about 25 water heaters in the last 5 years. This particular install was for my home and the quality of this water was great. I also liked that the drain bibb is not made of plastic! I ordered Sharkbite connections with my water heater for quicker installation. That way, you can sweat all of your other copper pipe connections away from the top of the water heater. Another thing, this model has female connections going into the top of water heater. I was used to male connections in the past and mistakenly bought male copper connections from Pex Supply, so I just had to make one trip to the hardware store...oh darn. The best of all, the water heater was delivered right to my garage!! I will never go to the store to buy a water heater ever again as long as Pex Supply is around. :-)

Replaced an old propane Montgomery Wards water heater that was 20+ years old. A. O Smith was rated well in the literature so I figured I'd try one. Heater was easy to install and works great. So far so good.

  • 50 Gallon ProMax 10 Yr Warranty Residential Gas Water Heater - Tall Model

    Q:

this pro max water heater has a 10 yr warranty. i noted that there is also a pro max with a 6 year warranty. am i simply paying more for a longer warranty or what parts/specs are actually different? other than the warranty, what is better on the 10yr model vs the 6yr model? thanks
    Asked on 9/21/2010 by Anonymous

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The only difference between the 6 yr model and the 10 yr model is the warranty length. They are exactly the same water heaters otherwise; no parts or specifications differ.

Answered on 9/22/2010 by PexSupply Staff from NY
    • A:

Part 184634-114 is a Secondary Anode found only on "X" models with 10-year tank warranty. I was told the XGV / XCV models include this part and standard 6-year GCV models don't. Also, since part 184634-144 can't be installed in GCV (6-year warranty) models - it requires 184634-133 instead - the answer from Pex is incorrect and misleading.
