Comments about 50 Gallon - 40,000 BTU ProMax Plus High Efficiency Residential Gas Water Heater - Tall Model, Nat Gas (10 Yr Warranty):

I did my research and this 50 Gallon - 40,000 BTU ProMax Plus…SKU: XVR-50Brand: AO Smith is a upgrade from the AO Smith that I currently have. AO Smith is supposed to be a good brand. The guy that lived here b/4 us, was a plumber and he installed the AO Smith that I currently have. I called my brother inlaw who is a plumber and he said, that is all they install is AO Smith. And I have always heard good things about AO Smith, so that is why I bought another AO Smith. The one I have now is still in working order but it was installed in 1998 so I guess it could go at anytime. I flush it out every year and it works like it should, I just did not want to be caught over a barrel the day it decides to go out and not know anything about which water heater to get and end up over paying for one that the local plumber has and is not as efficient as the one I bought. I called around to the local plumbing supply houses here in town and no one had it in stock because it is a more expensive and more energy efficient water heater than they usually carry. They told me that most people do not want to pay for the better unit. The way I look at it is, I paid less for the better unit online than I would have paid for a cheaper unit locally. I told that to the guy at the local parts supply house and told him that the internet is eating his lunch. I don't think they really care. I guess most people don't do any research and when their water heater goes out, they want a new one now. Do your research folks and think ahead because eventually it will fail. On place had the model right below this one and would do a anoid rod swap out to make it the 10yr tank but it would not be done from the factory and it was going to be more expensive and I would have to go and pick it up. So I used the brain I have, and said, Pexsupply has the one I want (XVR-50) in stock for less money plus free shipping and it will be delivered to my door. You can't beat that. I orded it on Thursday the 5th, it was shipped from NewYork on Friday the 6th and I got it on Tuesday the 10th in Memphis TN. It showed up in perfect condition. It was straped to a pallet with plastic wrap around it. Not one ding or scratch on the cardboard anywhere. It was delivered by Volunteer Express truck lines. The truck had a lift gate, the driver used his pallet jack and wheeled to my garage. What more could you ask for. Pex Supply is the way to go! Hopefully this new water heater will give my wife and I just as many years of service as the one we have now.

This unit replaced our 16 year old A.O. Smith water heater. We immediately noticed the difference in water temperature and recovery time. Pex Supply also beat the local plumbing supply price by $200, plus offered free shipping.

Quality water heater

Comments about 50 Gallon - 37,000 BTU ProMax Plus High Efficiency Residential Gas Water Heater - Tall Model, LP Gas (10 Yr Warranty):

I replaced an existing 40 gallon propane water heater with this high efficiency 50 gallon propane water heater. It seems very well made, solid construction, very heavy duty and included the pressure relief valve and hot/cold nipples to hook up the water lines and some pipe insulation foam. No problem with having enough hot water and it seems to run less than my old one. My only complaint is the heater is a little loud when it is running and it is located close to my bedroom rather than the garage so we really notice. Tank arrived on time and in perfect condition.

      A:

The thermocouple is probably the first thing to replace, but the problem could also be caused by the control or gas valve.
