The model 110 fill-troll w/valve is a replacement
unit. The first model 110 fill troll unit i had was
installed in 1990. A very reliable low maintenance
system. the first few years i did absolutely nothing
to it. The warranty is for 5 years but I had it almost 20. As the system got older it needed more
attention due to galvanic corrosion. A combination of cast iron(painted),brass, and galvanized steel.
And worn out seals and tired springs in the vent and fill valve. But after 20 years the low cost put my maintenance at next to nothing.

Looking at some other reviews maybe I was lucky it lasted about 10 years. But under the circumstances that they don't last that long, might make more sense to go with the much less expensive tank only and purchase a separate fill valve which should last longer. It was the bladder that failed on the tank not the fill valve. But it was very easy to replace--no soldering--just a compression nut.

Price was good compared to purchasing locally. Didn't pay for special shipment so it waited several days to ship. Wasn't in a hurry since it was pre-season. During heating season might be different.

Replaced a Model 109 with the 110.

Comments about Model 110 Fill-Trol w/ Valve (4.4 Gallon Volume):

I replaced a model 109 with the 110 because the diaphram of the 109 was ruptured and from my experience and the size of the house it seemed the 109 was undersized originally by the installer when a new boiler was installed in 2002. I aim more to slightly oversize things like this because it's cheap insurance. If you undersize the expansion tank it's more likely that you can rupture the diaphram in the tank if it's capacity is exceeded. the 109 is half the capacity and it lasted 11 years but, who knows when it actually failed. Maybe the 110 will last longer...time will tell but, seems like a simple quick solution for an auto fill system. I am used to the seperate regulator type auto fills and they can have their problems too and last about the same amount of time. This system is more economical dollar and labor wise.

Easy Install, Works Great

Comments about Model 110 Fill-Trol w/ Valve (4.4 Gallon Volume):

I am not a plumber, but I have done a few plumbing things in my past. But in my younger days, I laid a lot of pipe...My old large horizontal tank was leaking. I temporarily fixed the leak with plumbers epoxy, and ordered this tank with the fill valve. [...]The hardest part of the process was finding the best spot to install it, but that was still easy. I added a couple of copper 'T's and Pex conversion fittings to my existing lines. Then installed a couple of Pex shutoffs, and then put the tank in with Pex. Easy peasy.

  • Model 110 Fill-Trol w/ Valve (4.4 Gallon Volume)

    Q:

Does this take the place of a Pressure Reducing Valve?
Asked on 2/17/2011 by Rick from WV

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

No, you will still need both. The valve on this unit allows you to remove the tank for cleaning; it will not perform the function of a pressure reducing valve.

No the vent and scoop are extra,If you order the scoop make sure it has the correct pipe threads. New ones seem to be 3/4 npt. I needed
1 1/4. so if its a replacement check it out before hand to insure the correct size.
