A well designed product

Comments about #90 Extrol Expansion Tank (14 Gallon Volume):

Our concern was that this is a large unit to suspend off of the system. It has a 3/8x16 machine thread receptacle on the top and bottom so it was easy to add a small support down to the floor. This was useful because it was a replacement for the #60. Our system was developing about 30 psi at its upper temperature and water was flowing out the pressure relief valve. This unit solved the problem. The pressure now peaks at about 20 psi. Note that the air pressure valve is offset to accommodate the lower threaded receptacle. We are really pleased.

The right product for the application

Comments about #90 Extrol Expansion Tank (14 Gallon Volume):

I needed a larger expansion tank for a hot water heating system and this Amtrol #90 tank was the correct volume. Other Amtrol products I have used have all performed well and this tank seems to be the same. The right specs at a good price. Since expansion tanks have no moving parts they either work or they don't, this one works as expected.

Comments about #90 Extrol Expansion Tank (14 Gallon Volume):

Pex supply has a btu calculator so I could select the correct expansion tank. I didn't have to go to the store to get it. It saved me time and money. The local supply store didn't have the correct size in stock and it would have cost me more.

Good tank, great service.

Comments about #90 Extrol Expansion Tank (14 Gallon Volume):

I orderd this tank to go with my wood boiler install. I originally had a #30 and that wasn't enough capacity for the additional 80 gallons of my new boiler. I ordered this #90 on Monday and PexSupply had it to me Tuesday! Within 10 minutes I had the old one spun out and this one spun in. Expansion issues: SOLVED.

  • #90 Extrol Expansion Tank (14 Gallon Volume)

    Q:

Great site - You list the tank volume of 14 gallons with the max accepted volume as 11.3 gallons. Is the max volume the max amount of water it can hold? Having a slightly larger expansion tank on the furnace than needed has no down side - right? Thanks
    Asked on 1/9/2012 by Pete

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Installing an expansion tank that is too large has no downside other than the fact that you'd be paying more than you need to for the expansion tank. The 11.3 gallons is a measure of maximum water capacity.
