Comments about 41 Gallon CH-41Z BoilerMate Champion Series Indirect-Fired Water Heater:

My Amtrol lasted more than 18 years. I just replaced it with the new top feed unit CH-41Z. It is wonderful. Meets household need for hot water and has a very quick recovery. I would tell anyone looking for a good hot water soltuion to consider the Amtrol product line.

Comments about 41 Gallon CH-41Z BoilerMate Champion Series Indirect-Fired Water Heater:

Just replaced a HotStow that was installed pre-1989. Very impressed with the new design of the heater coil on top versus on bottom where sediment is always an issue. Also the top central location of all hook ups and the easy to change temp dial add up to some great new ideas in heater design that lend themselves to a much nicer cleaner looking installation.

Plenty of hot shower capacity

Comments about 41 Gallon CH-41Z BoilerMate Champion Series Indirect-Fired Water Heater:

This is the 2nd Amtrol water I have purchased. The first one lasted 25 years before tank got a pin hole leak. The tank has a quick recovery time when working off a standard inside gas boiler or a wood outside boiler. If you have alot of shower takers it is a good way to go.

    Q:

by how much do I have to oversize the boiler for the 40 gal. CH-41Z?
Asked on 6/23/2014 by Hil from NY,

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Oversizing a boiler to accommodate an indirect water heater is rarely necessary. Indirects almost always are configured to be a "priority" zone in a system, so that the DHW zone does not operate at the same time as any of the space-heating zones.

Answered on 6/25/2014 by SupplyHouse Staff from NY
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

You really don't need to upsize the boiler, since the water heater doesn't
call for heat much except for peak use times like morning showers, etc.
I would not recommend the Boilermate, however. The one I purchased failed
after two years and I replaced it with a Lochinvar Squire.

I think you would need to provide more information.
How many tubs do you have and how many gallons are they?
Worst case scenario if you have visitors and all tubs are used at the same time, can this happen at your house?

      A:

We also have three full bathrooms and we are heating 2900 square feet with seven zones. The boiler mate, zone 8, is more than sufficient. Consider a 40 gallon as being a normal 120 gallon. After 8 months of use we have never run out of hot water. Also make sure that the Boiler Mate has first call on getting heat and there should be no problems.

      A:

No indirect water heaters qualify for tax rebates because their efficiency ratings are tied directly to those of the boiler the indirect is connected to.

The plumber installed CH-41Z BoilerMate water heater in Jan of 2011.
Now my furnace doesn't shut off. I installed a new thermostat, but the furnace continues to run. Could it be the water heater??

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Your boiler will run until the Amtrol unit is satisfied. You may want to go back and check the wiring to make sure all the connections are correct.

    Q:

What is the expected life of this product?
    Asked on 1/7/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

It is designed to last for the duration of the 6-year warranty. Beyond that, the life of the product depends on several usage factors: water conditions, the temperature the tank is maintained at, and maintenance of the unit (i.e. draining the tank to remove sediment).
