Description for BAYweb BW-WT1-W

The standard model of BAYweb Thermostat can be used with conventional single stage heat and/or cool systems (one heat/one cool). It supports unlimited X10 wireless, and one wired alert inputs.

NOTE: Exclusively for use in the United States. Temperatures indicated in degrees Fahrenheit.

Features:

  • Maximum Efficiency
  • Effortless Scheduling
  • Personal Web Portal
  • Dedicated Mobile Interface
  • Alert Notifications
  • No Recurring Costs
  • Install Yourself in 30 Minutes
  • Use Existing Wiring
  • Plug-N-Go Networking enables you to utilize all of the Internet-based capabilities by simply plugging it in to your network.
Designed to install yourself, the BAYweb Thermostat is the least expensive and most full featured Internet enabled thermostat available.

The BAYweb Thermostat's controls are elegant simplicity. The soft green easy to read display discretely indicates the temperature in a low profile package, that blends pleasantly with your decor. The thermostat is available in eight colors in addition to white and black.

The BAYweb thermostat will notify you of problems with your heating or air conditioning, and other important potential problems, such as a break-in or sump pump failure. These alerts are delivered to your mobile phone and to a list of email addresses you select. The alert server in our data center will alert you if the Internet connection used by the thermostat goes offline for more than 10 minutes. This warns you that you will not receive other alerts until the Internet connection is restored.

You can operate your thermostat anytime anywhere via web browser or a web-enabled mobile phone ( Dedicated portals designed for most major phones like the Apple iPhone provide access to your thermostat from just about anywhere). Unlimited use of the BAYweb portal is included at no additional charge. This state-of-the-art portal provides real time monitoring, control, and reporting for an unlimited number of BAYweb thermostats, and other BAYweb devices.

Applets give you the ability to easily customize your personal web portal to suit your needs. The Master Thermostat applet provides the ability to control multiple thermostats simultaneously and the Energy Profile applet provides a simple way to manage settings of multiple thermostats, both excellent features for commercial, light industrial and real estate use.

The BAYweb Thermostat provides comprehensive energy management reporting, analysis, and alerting functions previously only found in expensive and complex building management systems available to large commercial and industrial customers.

In addition to analysis and reporting, you can setup your web portal to alert you if the energy usage ever exceeds a specified threshold, a great feature for parents, vacation home owners, landlords and building managers.

For sensors and other accessories, please see our BAYweb Accessories category.

System Requirements:
  • Requires a full time internet connection
  • To use existing thermostat cable, at least 4 conductors are required
  • Exclusively for use in the United States

I DON'T KNOW HOW WE LIVED WITHOUT IT

By OIL SAVER

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (White):

Easy install, great site support and all good stuff. You can program temp changes on a half hour increment. Invaluable when we are away from VT in the winter. We can program or adjust thermostats from anywhere on laptop, iPhone, iPad or Androids. Also we can set maximum temp to put a limit on a tenant. We bought one then a second for another zone and we will be getting a third. My oldest son also has one and loves it. Fast pay back on these in savings. Also can use motion sensors via the built in X10 facility to alert you for intrusion etc at no cost except for the sensor. No downside whatsoever.

Great Product in a Crummy Finished Box

By Central Coast

from San Luis Obispo

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (White):

First, the product and functionally is great.

This is an easy to install highly functional unit whose presenatation and literature quickly impresses clients.

Now, lets talk about the finished appearance. Be aware that the metal enclosure surrounding the LED screen is anything but thin, trim, impressive or high end.

If planning this unit for a nicely finished enviournment you had better plan on some custom work for the enclosure box/frame which holds the LED Screen.

Most thermostats are two pieces, a sub-base with a nice snap on top. No mounting screws seen.

Rather then a subbase, Bay placed a very nice LED display in an overly large, clunky surface mounted metal box with little attention paid to a quality paint finish. The finished face of the unit is further spoiled by the two unsightly phillips screws used to attach the unit to a wall.

The oversized box may be intended to cover "wall acne" left from old thermostats but is no help in new construction.

Its a nice product with nice features. Just know that attention to the finish may be needed if installed in new construction.

Very cool product

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (Dark Green):

I have a vacation home which I wanted to monitor more closely, especially in the winter time to control my fuel costs. The installation was a piece of cake. The online page is easy to use and I also installed the Bayweb app on my smartphone which works great. I had to play with setting up the schedules as the programming part really doesnt come with any instructions. Installation instructions were more than adequate though. I will probably purchase and install the motion sensors as well at some point in the future. Love it so far.

Wiring was simple. Worked correctly immediately. Perhaps a little more info on how the software functions would be good. A rudimentary set of instructions

Very good overall product

By Ultrablack

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (Black):

The BayWeb thermostat with occupancy sensing is the solution to the design limitations of standard programmable thermostats. Whats more, if you have been away for some time, you have the ability to override the occupancy sensors and adjust the temperature via your web enabled cell phone to raise or lower the temperature prior to your arrival. It would be great to have the outside and inside temperature with each applet. It would also be good to potentially include local utility peak usage times in the scheduling applet to further cost savings features.

This product was very easy to install.

Works well needs more flexible programin

By Ultrablack

from Portage Michigan

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (Black):

Great for continuous monitoring of temperature and zone alarms/events while away at work or on vacation. Product is very very easy to install. The Web portal could not be more simple. [...] Technical service is very responsive and polite.Data is good, however can not be uploaded into excel for additional evaluation. This could be improved very simply by giving user the ability to more flexibly program thermostat to turn off and on at different temperatures vs just a -1 degree and a +1 degree. The third degree of heat's rate of increase (if programed)is much faster than the first two. The rate of cooling is the same...This will result in much more substantial cost savings. Cost savings is the overall objective to me anyway.

By Putzer

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (Black):

I use this for my garage. It is off most of the time and I use my droid incredible phone to turn it on when I want to heat my garage. It is nice because it is a direct hook up right to my router. I don't have to worry if it is ever off line. Hook up was so easy. I want one for my house. This is by far the best network thermostat out there.

Comments about BAYweb Standard Network Thermostat (White):

As a big time computer/network guy I was impressed with this product. Install was not bad. Had no issues with it in the first 30 days. I was nervous about the web based control but works well. My only gripe is the cost is a little high to put at all my locations. .

    Q:

Is there an annual fee for access to the web site? I am assuming you can monitor the actual temperature of the house through the site.

      A:

Correct. You can monitor and control the device through a web portal or via an iOS app. There is no annual or reoccurring cost to use these services.

      A:

There are no fees associated with the web site. All you pay for is the price of the thermostat equipment. And yes, you can monitor the current temperature plus a lot of other interesting statistics. I use the iPhone app, and just checked my own home: Inside = 81F, Outside = 73F, RH = 64%, Solar = 50%, Wind speed 10 MPH. The outdoor stuff must be harvested from somewhere on the internet, but it's accurate.

You can monitor it both through their web site (http://www.bayweb.com/) and via a smartphone application (currently for Iphone and Android). I use both the web-based and my Iphone and both work very well. The reporting on the web-based one is a bit better due to the larger screen size. The monitoring is free for the Standard Thermostat. I don't know if it costs more for the professional versions with multiple thermostats.

There is no access fee to the website.  I  use the website to access my account
but more regularly monitor my homes temperature via my smartphone app.  It is
very slick and is well maintained with periodic upgrades.  I am more than
satisfied with this purchase.  It has exceeded my expectations.

While the enclosure is rather clunky and the display fairly plain the produce itself is quite robust for the money.
There is no charge for the hosting. The remote functionality is very good. Not just monitoring but real time control, scheduling, multiple stats, alarms and both usage and energy charts and graphs.

There is no annual fee, which makes the BayWeb device a very good deal
compared to others. Yes, you can monitor the actual temperature of the
house, see it graphed over time, along with furnace runtimes, solar index,
outside temp, etc. It's all very cool.

I do not believe there is a fee. There was not when I was using that
thermostat. Check a www.bayweb.com. Yes you can monitor the temperature
of the house remotely through their web site as well as one other digital (
      contact closure ) input.
That is a great thermostat. However, do not try to use it with a Hughesnet
internet connection. Hughesnet will not pass communication to the Bayweb
stat. I had to replace mine because of this problem.
      Hope this helps

There was no annual fee when I bought my unit about a year ago. Get the phone app if you have such a phone. You can monitor temperatures and adjust heat and cool thru the phone app or the website.

I have two units so far and one of my sons has one at his home. There is no
fee beyond the original purchase of the thermostat. You can monitor
temperature, change, re-program or turn the heat on/off from the farthest
corners of the planet. It gets better: you can add motion sensors and other
X10 items (look it up) almost without limit and they will monitor those and
alert you via email or text message, also without charge. Their customer
service is excellent. You will wonder how you lived without a Bayweb
thermostat and Pex Supply is the best place to buy it. They should be in
      every home.

Does this product connect wirelessly to the router in the house? Or does it connect via an ethernet wire (as was stated in one of the reviews)? Thanks.

Connect the control module to the internet. Plug one end of an ethernet cable into the LAN port on the bottom of the control module and the other end into a port on a router or switch on your home network. Please view page 12 in the manual ( http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1274116181719/30544_PROD_FILE.pdf ) for a detailed diagram.

It is cabled to the router or switch. Also wired to the relevant thermostat. The X10 portion for additional items is of course wireless. Fabulous device, the Bayweb.
