I have 10 of these units in my house that were made in approx. 1972 and the fans on some have worn out. Some of the units are hard to get to without ripping out walls and kitchen counters so it is not too easy to get a new unit in place. I tried to get fan replacements from B/M two years ago and they said they had nothing as the old motor/fan contractor they used went out of business (Tron). So now they have this new unit #K-42. This new unit has a fan/motor replacement available and I thought I would try this. This assembly fits into the old unit perfectly. These new K-42 fan/motor replacements have wiring for a 3 position switch which does not exist on the old units. So you have 2 hot leads--you only need one of them. The red lead makes the fan run slow, the black lead makes the fan run fast-so take your pick and tape the unused one back out of the way. Connect the grounds and you are all set.

This is exact replacement and instructions make it easy to replace. BUT, why does it fail so soon???
When you remove the covers of the unit to replace the blower you get a feeling of the low quality of Beacon Morris.
        1. When you clean the dust off the cover with a slightly damp rag in order to read the wiring diagram, all the prining wipes off.
        2. All the factory sweated connections between the fin tube sections have crusty, white deposit.
        3. High speed is noisy.

Pros - Exact drop in replacement.
Cons - overall Beacon Morris low quality, noisy.

Note - While searching for this replacement blower assembly I removed the old blower and dropped in a small 115VAC axial fan (like a computer fan.) I got more warmth and less noise while using this fan than the Beacon Morris exact replacement.

I replaced a fan in an existing unit. The old fan had a 1974 label. I chose to use the high speed lead. It fit the old blower assembly.

The fan in my 20+ year old K82 toe kick heater was making a lot of noise as the bearings were wearing out. Beacon Morris indicates that parts are no longer available for K82 heaters. I can report that the K84 fan fits the K82 heater perfectly. The only issue is that the old K82 fan had a built-in junction box for the electrical wiring connections, and the new fan has exposed wiring. Adding an external junction box addressed this issue. Recommend the K84 fan to fix old K82's. Nice and quiet again.
