The valve works as advertised (no water hammer). There are two common problems I have found with these valves ( I have a 7 zone system with a valve for each zone): 1 - The contacts arc and the pitted surface of the contact will no longer make an electrical contact. I use a fine needle file to smoth them and then polish the surface of the contacts with a fine emory cloth sand paper. 2 - the heat motors eventually leak out the wax used to push the rod our or the heat motor heater burns out. This can be fixed by just buying the heat motor (sold by PEX) for less than half the cost of a new valve. I would recommend buying a spare valve to keep on hand.

Easy to replace yourself

The contacts are small and wear rather quickly. I am only getting a year or maybe 2 out of each. Cost adds up fast when you have to replace 4 zones.

Comments about CT-24 Replacement Motor for CTS-7524 Zone Valve:

My heating specialist informed me that I needed a new motor for my zone valve and he informed me that his supplier said that they were no longer made and were not available.
So, I went to Supply House and sure enough, they had them at a very reasonable price and so I have stocked up with a few of these items in case I ever need another one replaced in the future. Great service and shipping was timely

For baseboard heat with 1/2 inch water line used with thermostat to control each room. Low watt use
last for years, PexSupply has the best price that I could find.

    Q:

I HAVE TWO WIRES COMING FROM THE THERMOSTAT, RED AND WHITE, AND HAVE A CONTINUOUS RUNNING PUMP. IN YOUR SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS IT SHOWS THE THIRD TERMINAL IS NOT USED IN THIS APPLICATION. WHICH WIRE GOES ON WHICH TERMINAL? DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? I HAVE 12 OF THESE IN MY APARTMENT BUILDING. I BOUGHT SPARES FROM A DISTRIBUTOR HERE IN CLEVELAND AND AM SLOWLY REPLACING THESE.

Use terminal # 1 and #2 . 1 is the hot wire from tstat and 2 is from common side of control transformer.

      Note: Terminal 3 is not
      used if a continuously
      operating pump is used.

      A:

Terminal 2 would not be used. It doesn't matter which wire goes to 1 and 3.
The connection between 1 and 3 is a heating coil and it will work equally
well whichever way you hook it up.

Bell & Gossett only manufactures 3-wire heads. For 4-wire, you will need to look at Honeywell products.
