NOTE: High altitude models must be special ordered and have a four week lead time. If you would like to order the high altitude version of this heater, please call our customer service number and a representative will be able to assist you in placing the order.

Like the TTW1®, the TTW2® model is also power vented but offers higher BTU/Hr. inputs, additional insulation and larger gallon capacities. The TTW2® also offers greater installation flexibility with the ability to vent through a wall or roof, with either 3 or 4 PVC, ABS or CPVC pipe.

Features:

  • ENERGY STAR® Qualified - This model qualifies for the January 1st, 2009 minimum ENERGY STAR® EF requirement, as well as most utility rebate programs. (50 & 65 gallon models only)
  • Advanced ScreenLok® Technology Flame Arrestor Design - Flame arrestor is designed to prevent ignition of flammable vapor outside of the water heater. (50 & 65 gallon models only)
  • Flammable Vapor Sensor - Electronic sensor prevents burner operation if flammable vapors are detected. The sensor will also prevent operation if there is ongoing flammable vapor burn inside the combustion chamber.
  • Maintenance Free - No regular cleaning of air inlet openings or flame arrestor is required under normal conditions.(50 & 65 gallon models only)
  • Sight Window - Offers a view into the combustion chamber to observe the operation of the pilot and burner.(50 & 65 gallon models only)
  • Powerful Blower Motor - Our significantly quiet design has greater resistance to outside winds and the power to vent in many difficult venting situations.
  • Factory Installed Hydrojet®2 Total Performance System - Cold water inlet sediment reducing device helps prevent sediment build up in tank. Increases first hour delivery of hot water while minimizing temperature build up at top of tank.
  • Vitraglas® Lining - Bradford White tanks are lined with an exclusively engineered enamel formula that provides superior tank protection from the highly corrosive effects of hot water. This formula (Vitraglas®) is fused to the steel surface by firing at a temperature of over 1600° F.
  • Honeywell Self Diagnostic Electronic Gas Control - Intelligent gas control with spark to pilot ignition system eliminates the constant burning pilot. This results in savings of pilot gas during stand by periods (120 V.A.C.).
    • Enhanced Performance - Proprietary algorithms provide enhanced First Hour Delivery ratings and tighter temperature differentials.
    • Advanced Temperature Control System - Microprocessor constantly monitors and controls burner operation to maintain accurate and consistent water temperature levels.
    • Intelligent Diagnostics - An exclusive green LED light prompts the installer during start-up and provides ten different diagnostic codes to assist in troubleshooting.
    • Pilot On Indication - Flashing green LED provides positive indication that pilot is on.
    • Horizontal and Vertical Venting - With 3" or 4" PVC, ABS or CPVC (Maximum equivalent vent length on reverse side).
    • 2" Non-CFC Foam Insulation - Covers the sides and top of tank to save energy by retarding loss of heat. Also increases jacket rigidity.
  • Water Connections - 3/4" NPT factory installed true dielectric fittings.
  • Factory Installed Heat Traps - Design incorporates a flexible disk that reduces heat loss in piping and eliminates the potential for noise generation.
  • Protective Magnesium Anode Rod.
  • 3/4" NPT Side Connections.
  • Pedestal Base.
  • T&P Relief Valve - Included.
  • Brass Drain Valve - Durable tamper proof design.

The heater also has two side connections

Comments about 48 Gallon - 67,000 BTU Defender Safety System TTW2 Power Vent Energy Saver Residential Water Heater (Nat Gas):

I use this to provide house potable water and to heat my basement floor. The rapid recovery of water because of the 65,000 btu is perfect for our 5 person household; we never run out of hot water yet, with a 48 gallon capacity, we are never heating water that we won't use like we did with the bradford and white combi boiler that was 75 gallons and 75K (or thereabouts) btu. The old heater was replaced at 17 years as a maintenance item - the heater did not fail, however there was quite the buildup of calcium on the inside and the pwr vent was quite loud, this was is very, very quite. Have no complaints at all but I do wish it has a higer efficiency rating. I asked the plumber what he thought and he said I coud've gotten a Rhem for about 500 bucks less and that this was a high quality piece of machinery. Two most significant things of this are the quick recovery time of cold water to hot and the side connections. Also nice is the temp. dial so you can set the water temp - even to holiday setting. Also, I do believe that there is no continuous gas pilot light, it switches on only when the heater heats water.

Comments about 48 Gallon - 60,000 BTU Defender Safety System TTW2 Power Vent Energy Saver Residential Water Heater (LP Gas):

My last Bradford White heater lasted over 15 yrs. I looked locally for a direct vent replacement but would have had to compromise qualities. This model had the highest BTUs for a 48 gal heater which means a fast recovery. The temperature adjust is easier on this model than on my old one. I am very pleased with its performance.

    Q:

There is exhaust spillage evident at the top, what should be the method of testing for issue id ? (not a new install)
Asked on 8/1/2012 by Guest from WI

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

A power vent would typically be moving all exhaust through the vent and that movement is sensed by the pressure switch. If there is evidence of exhaust spillage on the unit the installer or certified technician would need to check out the system to see what is causing the issue.

This is a power vented unit. You would not use a concentric vent kit with this unit.
