Comments about Series 3 102,000 BTU Output, Electronic Ignition, 5 Section Gas Fired Cast Iron Boiler (Nat Gas):

I had my 35+ year old Burnham boiler replaced with another Burnham boiler.
I am 64 years old it will out live me.
I have a 3500 square foot colonial in Green, Ohio, where the winters have been very cold this year.
        The house is well insulated.
When outside temps were -15 degrees below zero the house maintained 53 degrees. The old Burnham was having problems at the time,it was time to retire. The boiler itself was ok,just old.I did not want to keep adding external components.
American made and a good example of American quality.
When its running you can hardly tell, and it is keeping the house very comfortable.I love it!
With the 84% efficiency rating I know my gas bill will reflect a huge savings.
The old Burnham efficiency must have been good because my gas bill averaged about $89.00 a month during the winter.I keep my house at 65-70 degrees. Can't wait to see my savings with the new one.

          Q:

I need a replacement boiler for a 100 yo house. We are converting from steam/radiators to hot water / fan convectors. We have a clay-lined chimney (that is shared with another house).

I don't understand the differences between the Series 3 and the ES2 series. Can you summarize for me?
Asked on 3/19/2012 by Frank from Central NJ USA

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

ES2 models are slightly more efficient. The 85% efficiency rating is important because it's the threshold for Energy Star certification and many utility company rebates.
