Comments about Alpine 119,000 BTU Output Condensing Boiler (Wall Mount):

Have had it for 3 months. If you are thinking of any mod con boiler here are things you MUST DO!

              1. Have a proper heat loss done on your house. If you don't no matter what the know it all plumber says, it will be oversized.

              2. You must follow the manual exactly including having a closely spaced T in the plumbing and using a combustion analyzer. If the plumber doesn't have one, but he's a great price, plan on having a heating company that owns one, ready to come in and set the O2/CO2 correctly

              3. If you have a lot of small zones in your house, there is NO mod con that can modulate low enough for micro zones, so expect short cycling or plan in another $800+ for a buffer tank

              4. Either you or the installer must spend enough time with the system to correctly set the max modulation, light off RPM, min and max temp offsets. By doing this step, you minimize short cycling and fine tune the running of the boiler.

Comments about Alpine 119,000 BTU Output Condensing Boiler (Wall Mount):

I first reported about my Alpine 150 not performing properly and having my plumber and a Mfg rep try and resolve. Finally the mfg technician along with the mfg support people diagnosed the problem. They replaced the burner assembly and some intake valves and the unit has been up and running beautifully for around 9+ months without so much as a hiccup. Keep the fingers crossed.

This boiler is a nice compact size. The LCD read-out tells you just about everything you need to know. The electronics drawer doesn't close tight, Burnham should put a couple clips on it. I had this boiler installed August 2012 and it never has been reliable to run consistently. There is a cycling process the boiler goes through before it starts running and if something is a little out of whack it just keeps cycling and won't start. They are very tempermental. I've had my plumber out multiple times to try and adjust, I've had a Burnham rep look at it and now I'm waiting for the Mfg's tech to look at it. When it does run it is a great boiler. I don't know if the problems are external to the boiler or the boiler itself. Bottom line is I would think long and hard before purchasing this boiler again.

                              A:

The Alpine boiler does not have an internal domestic water coil, and it must be connected to an indirect water heater to provide heated domestic water. We do carry Triangle Tube Prestige Excellence boilers, which provide hot water for plumbing and heating in a single unit.
