I'm a financial advisor by trade - not a plumber- and I installed this into my 1" pex line by my water tank at a remote cabin I own- it worked great and I literally stuck it together with not a leak- took 5 minutes - amazing product- my jet well pump water system works great now

So easy and so nice.

Comments about 1/2" Sharkbite Check Valve (Lead Free):

This was my first experience with the Sharkbite products and it was every bit as easy as claimed. I cut the Pex pipe off square, pushed it into the fitting and it was done. It was so easy that it left me wondering if it really worked but when I turned on the water, everything was perfect -- almost. This was a check valve and I forgot to pay attention to the directional arrow. There was a 50-50 chance of getting it right but I didn't win. I wondered about the claim of easy removal and tested that sooner than I had expected. By pushing the locking ring in, the joint came right apart and it was a simple matter to reverse the valve and reattach it. Works great and I'll use this techology from now on.

Great product

Comments about 1/2" Sharkbite Check Valve:

I needed this check valve to complete my just installed dedicated return line back to the COLD side of my water heater. I installed a Grundfos re-circulation pump on the hot side of my water heater. The check valve is used to prevent the cold water from back-flowing into the just installed dedicated return line when the pump was NOT running. I do not need or want the re-circulated pump running 24/7, so the check valve was put in just before the dedicated return line ends at the COLD water feed back to the water heater, which completes the loop. Now I do not have the dedicated return line HOT recirculated water being cooled off by a cold water source introduced by the just installed dedicated return line when my re-circulation pump is OFF.

other ways to release these fittings.

Comments about 3/4" Sharkbite Check Valve:

The review above notes difficulty in removing the unit without the special tool. I have the tool and honestly I prefer using an open end wrench sized properly. The open ended wrench is stronger and allows me to get better leverage to compress the fitting to release. Hope some one else finds this helpful. Great products. I do all my manifolds with these fittings. It allows me to make changes etc. quite easily.

Serious Bite

Comments about 3/4" Sharkbite Check Valve:

Used this on PEX tubing. Super gripping power. You could feel it biting the tube during insertion. A bit of force required to get it to seat completely, but once there, it doesn't budge and won't leak. I don't recommend trying to remove any of these fittings later without the correct tool for this as using your hands only to push the collar back up will NOT work with these fittings. You can easily pull apart the WATTS fittings, not these, they don't budge. Great for permanent installs.

The SharkBite Check Valve can be installed horizontally and vertically.

Yes! This is a spring pressure valve, NOT a gate. Just follow the arrow (cast on the valve) and install the valve in the direction indicated. I just blew on the valve and knew what direction it must be installed. It requires less than 1/2 lbs. of pressure to unseat the spring.
