Description for Cash-Acme U850G50

SharkBite® PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. Manufactured without an oxygen barrier for potable water systems. A repeating SharkBite® imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite® Push-Fit Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite® imprint pattern.

  • 1/4" Sharkbite PEX Tubing, without Oxygen Barrier (50 ft Coil)

    Q:

I read that push to fit can not be used with Pex-AL-Pex. What does that mean?

      A:

Push-fit fittings (such as SharkBite) do not work with PEX-AL-PEX. Fitting options for PEX-AL-PEX are limited to compression and press fittings that are specifically designed for the unique diameter of PEX-AL-PEX tubing.

  • 1/4" Sharkbite PEX Tubing, without Oxygen Barrier (50 ft Coil)

    Q:

Contractor recently used Sharkbite PEX to extend hose bib under newly constructed deck. It should be reasonably shaded from sun light by the deck boards. There is quite a big hanging "loop" in the installation. I understand that PEX is freeze resistant, but will a large loop prove a problem come winter? What about things catching on it?

      A:

PEX is more freeze-resistant than traditional types of rigid pipes, but it can still burst if water freezes inside of it. It may be a good idea to drain the line during the winter months.

  • 1/4" Sharkbite PEX Tubing, without Oxygen Barrier (50 ft Coil)

    Q:

What is "without oxygen barrier" meant to suggest to a potential user? How does it differ from any other PEX tubing?
Asked on 7/18/2011 by Anonymous from Hessel, MI

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

PEX without an oxygen barrier is designed for use in plumbing systems. Closed heating systems, which continually cycle the same water, need an oxygen barrier to prevent oxygen from penetrating the tubing and corroding ferrous system components.
