Comments about 1" Side Mount Angle Thermostatic Radiator Valve:

Just looks like a good valve that the heating people installed. Got it for use with thermostatic radiator valves. Much better than the decades old valve it replaced.

Comments about 1/2" Side Mount Angle Thermostatic Radiator Valve:

You have to purchase the knob also. This valve is great because it does not stick out past the face of the radiator, so no one is going to run into it, the nickel silver finish is very high quality, and the size is a perfect match to the Myson brand valve that came with the radiator so I was able to switch this valve in with no issues, even after the radiator and original valve were installed. All of the specifications and dimensions are on Danfoss' website.

Comments about 1/2" Side Mount Angle Thermostatic Radiator Valve:

It is nice looking thermostatic valve, which can be used with Danfoss thermostatic head filled with gas rather then liquid. Such a construction enables shorter response time of the valve.

Comments about 3/4" Side Mount Angle Thermostatic Radiator Valve:

I have installed a number of these on radiant panels and cast iron radiator units. They do what they should. They work fine as a manual valve or with the thermostatic control head. Very easy to convert - pop off the one, pop on the other.
I have recommended these to DIY customers and no complaints.

    Q:

Can this be installed on older one pipe (1 1/4")steam radiators?

      A:

If all you want is to do is turn the steam on or off, then yes. If you want to use it as an automatically adjusting thermostatic valve, then no.

Here is a page that explains very clearly how a one pipe steam valve needs to work.

Here is an example of a thermostatic steam valve that should do the job. The reviews and questions listed for it have a lot of good details that will help you further.

do you need to drain the water from the heating system when you install these side mount TRVs

      A:

Yes, you will have to drain your system down when installing the valve.

      A:

Yes you do or you will have a puddle on your hands! I try and just drain down the system to just below the radiators that I am working on so I do not have to deal with bleeding the air out of the entire system. You can figure out if the water is low enough by just cracking the union fitting where the valve attaches to the radiator and if it drips, you are not low enough.
