A great American-made water heater

By Lloyd

Comments about EX280T2T Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater:

I am using this on-demand electric water heater to heat the water in my storage tank--part of a solar water-radiant heat system. It was easy to install, and has worked great so far. One small criticism is that little windows to view the lights on the heater units inside (which tell if the unit is on and the level of heating). I am going to make my own adjustment.

Unhappy Customer

Comments about EX280T2T Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater:

This product was a replacement for the same model that failed after only about 5+ years. The new model did not have the same configuration of electrical or plumbing, so these had to be adapted. The new tankless unit was defective with a bad circuit board on the middle heating element. We now have to replace that. EMax is sending a replacement part, but it will take another 4 - 5 days to receive the part. That means no hot water until then. Also the new unit does not appear to have been improved in the area where the original one failed. If we had known all this before we ordered the new replacement unit, we would have probably gone with a different brand.

Works well

Comments about EX280T2T Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater:

This product to date has been very reliable and heats water fast. It is a little noisy when the cylinoids click on and off so you would want to put it in a more remote site of the house.

I have a well with all the problems that unsoftened or unconditioned water creates. Will this unit be harmed by the cold well water?

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Mineral buildup is typically not a concern with Eemax tankless hot water heaters. Water is moved through the heating chamber with a high level of turbulence which ‘scrubs’ the interior every time you use it. In addition, Eemax tankless water heaters do not store water, so mineral and calcium build-up will be significantly reduced. Turbulent water flushes the system heating chamber every time the heater is turned on.

  • EX280T2T Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater

    Q:

Why does this unit required to be mounted below any hot water outlet? And how does your product compare with the Stiebel Eltron Tempra 36.
Asked on 9/22/2010 by Chris from South Bend, In

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The EX280T2T & all other tankless heaters need to be mounted lower because siphoning can drain water out of the unit if it’s mounted higher. Gravity pulls water down out of the line assisted by other things that request cold water flow (usually high pressure cold water flow), while air goes against gravity & easily lifts up into the line. If you cannot mount the unit lower, then a spring-loaded check valve mounted on the inlet line can assist in preventing backflow/siphoning. The Eemax unit is usually easier to deal with than the Stiebel Eltron in regards to installation and part replacement.
