I use this one for the kitchen and it really works great. Used another in the bathroom. These totally change from minimal ventilation in the bath or kitchen to Wow! why did not do this before. Plan to install correctly and plan enough duct length to install the silencer. Sound will transmit along the duct to the vent hood, I did not have enough length to install the silencer but really it is no louder than any other fan. Use a timer switch (Leviton) and the Fantech speed control. You won't be sorry you took the time and effort to install the inline. This is an excellent product that is properly designed to be an easy install. Choose size properly by visiting their site and choosing your best CFM.

Comments about FG Series Round Inline Exhaust Fan, 6" Duct (483 CFM):

I installed this fan to get rid of noise above the stove when cooking. The good wife didnt like to run the range hood fan due to the noise it made, and when she did run it, she would have the speed set so low it wouldnt do any good. I installed the fan about 15 feet downstream from the hood, in my attic. It was very easy to install using the recommended duct clamps. The noise at the range was cut in half, while the airflow at least tripled. the wife still made a face whe it was on, so I ordered the silencer, and also the speed control, which pretty much made the fan as quiet as a running faucet. I really dont need the speed control, as even on high, the wife has big smiles.

              Good Fan

Comments about FG Series Round Inline Exhaust Fan, 6" Duct (483 CFM):

I used this fan to remove smoke from above a poker table in a finished basement for a customer. The fan itself was mounted in the unfinished side of the basement near the exterior wall/exhauset vent. I kept the fan as close the the exhaust as possible so that any leaks in the ductwork from the intake vent in the room up to the fan would suck in air, not blow smokey air our of them. I installed a 6" backdraft damper between the fan and the exhaust vent. The little flaps on the exterior vent hood blow open with strong wind. I also installed a 6" automatic fresh air damper to supply air to the room when this kicks on. The bracket that came with the fan makes mounting easy. The quick connect electrical terminals are nice also. Down side is that it hums a little when using it with a speed control. And the flange for connecting to the ductwork is a little narrow. Not much room to get a good overlap of foil tape on it and get screws in.

I was very impressed with the volume of air. With a run of 80 feet, four 90 deg. turns and one 180 deg. turn.It is a little loud at full speed but cant complain with that much air flow.

This inline exhaust is being used with a downdraft range hood and it sucks just fine! We had a very limited amount of space for installation and it fit without any modifications.

Comments about FG Series Round Inline Exhaust Fan, 6" Duct (483 CFM):

Really flows well, has a substantial suction on the inlet to pull air down a long duct run. Responds well to a fan speed controller as well. Using the fan to pull heated air from roof top solar heating panels and blow it into the house for heat.

The fan was not tested for noise by the manufacturer, however being that the fan is installed remotely (in an attic), noise should not be a concern.
