Comments about FML10 Fixed Metal Hood for Supply or Exhaust, 10" Duct (Single Unit):
This 10" exhaust hood was to replace a rusting, ages-old one during remodeling of my residence. I was dumbfounded to find that there was NO baffle intrinsic to this unit. (Design issue) The screen grill has quarter-inch openings, plenty of room for bugs and bees to crawl through! (Again, a design flaw) If the bugs didn't have enough room to go through the screen, they could always use the gap created because the screen was over-sized and bunched up. (Quality control issue) I had bought two of them, and the other unit had a properly fitted screen, albeit still 1/4" grid openings.
I then spent more money to get the butterfly baffle with duct. The two devices cannot interconnect; a female/female coupler would be required, and a residence wall is not thick enough to accomodate one.
I am returning the baffled duct.
I had my contractor discard the duct from the hood, insert window screen, and screw-attach the screened hood to the house. A 10" baffle will be simple to insert.
Comments about FML8 Fixed Metal Hood for Supply or Exhaust, 8" Duct (Single Unit):
Just not made well seems like they used the thinnest metal they could find, don't see this lasting at all.

Q:Does this unit have a mesh?
A:Yes, it does have a screen in it.
Q:Does this unit have a damper? Considering use for an HRV. Wouldn't work on air supply to unit if it had a damper.
A:The FML8 hood does not have a damper. If you did need to use a damper with it, you could install part RSK8 in the line.
