I've installed three of these fans for use in bathrooms. Unlike most bathroom vent fans where the motor is integral to the unit, these inline fans are very quiet. So quiet you need to install a timer switch so that you turn it off. The only sound you'll hear is the sound of the air flow. Product is well made and very easy to install. Forget the vent fans you see in the box store. This is the one you want for nearly silent and efficient ventilation.

One bit of advice - Consider more than bathroom size when selecting the proper fan. One of my bathrooms is fairly small, but a slightly higher flow rate helped to clear steam faster.

This is our 2nd vent fan from Fantech. Both have performed flawlessly. It's not silent, in fact it's quite loud, but this is probably my own fault for installing the fan too close to the bathroom venting location. In our case it's about as loud as any other standard bathroom vent fan. The instructions say to install the fan farther away from the room being vented but I couldn't do this because of space limitations. I also don't like the way you mount the fan to the mounting bracket. You have to drill the mounting screws directly into the plastic fan housing and to me this seems a bit dicey. Would be better if they included a more secure way to attach the fan to the mounting bracket. Anyways, not complaining... just mentioning this as a possible improvement to an already great product. Highly recommended!

I am using this fan as part of my basement exhaust system. It comes with a great bracket to mount almost in any direction and it is very quiet.

It is easy to install. I added a dehumidista, timer and speed control.

Much better than standard noisy fans that direct mount in the ceiling. You can even install a wall mount AC return air grill and have a much cleaner look. Just remember to mount the fan vertically if it is located in an unheated space or you may get condensate in the bottom.

Pros: This product replaced a really cheap ceiling mount bathroom exhaust fan. The existing motor/fan, just 4yrs old, became very noisy and failed. I simply removed the motor/fan from the housing and then installed this Fantech in the attic using existing vent tubing and electrical, mounted it vertical to a 2x4 of roof truss. Installation was indeed a snap. New fan is light years more quiet and empties my room quickly (20'l x 15'w x 10'h). I will be buying three more smaller/quieter Fantech units to replace my other cruddy vent fans is a few smaller rooms (two bathrooms and one washroom). I didnt give it 5 stars only because this unit is too new to rate its longevity, etc.

Cons: The user manual illustrated and extra wire, a bare ground, but the connector in the housing did not have this wire, possibly because this unit's housing is plastic.
