    Q:

I was about to replace my 30 year old pump and noticed it was hot. Does that mean it is running and working so that it does not have to be replaced. This pump sends water to the roof for solar heating of the water. There seemed to be good water pressure on the roof.

      A:

The pump will be hot to the touch if it is running properly, although it is possible that there are other issues with it.
