Comments about UP10-16BN5/ATLC, 1/2" Female NPT, 115V Pump, w/ Timer and Aquastat:

It was taking forever to get hot water from the water heater in the garage to fixtures on the other end of the house. I installed the Grundfos pump that I purchased from Supply House, to circulate hot water through the system and it has more than met my expectations. I have instant hot water now and the pump is so quiet that I can't hear it running. The built in timer system takes all the work out of having to install a separate timer to turn the pump on and off. I couldn't be more satisfied with this product.

Comments about UP10-16BN5/ATLC, 1/2" Female NPT, 115V Pump, w/ Timer and Aquastat:

Plumbed this into a system using a tankless water heater. I used a swing check valve ( not spring loaded ) on the pump outlet side to prevent reverse flow. Only a few days living with it so far. One thing is clear: this pump is extremely quiet. Even in a quiet utility room one needs to practically put an ear close to the pump to hear it spin up.

Initially the pump would not flow enough water to activate the heater, which requires 0.4 GPM to light. That was a surprise since the flow rating of the pump is much higher than that. A few hours later, I found that everything was working. Perhaps the pump auto-adjusted ? The included manual has very little info and few specs, so it is of no help to know what two of the three pump settings actually do.

There seems to be one problem in my system, though probably not due to this pump. It is a vibration that occurs sometimes at first demand for hot water in a shower. Possibly it is some interaction between the check valve and the thermostatic valve at the shower. It only happens occasionally, perhaps if the pump happens to be running when the shower valve is opened. I am still thinking about what to do about it.

Great pump, small enough to fit anywhere and with the build in thermostat and timer is a plus, slow moving water to save your plumbing also is an advantage.

Recirculation hot water return loop.Best with union on each side of it and a swing check valve in loop.
Must be installed level-has 8 foot cord on remote heat sensor
I recomend a surge outlet for pluging this into as this unit has a circuit board in it. Uses very little electricity

We moved into a new house and had to run hot water a long time before it would get hot. Existing pump was not working. Existing pump was discontinued so found a replacement one that used existing base. Just loosened old one and threaded new one on no plumbing required.

This was purchased to replace an older pump. These pumps are great for the amount of water they save when waiting for hot water. At the furthest sink from the pump it takes no longer than 3 seconds to have hot water. If you are not using one of these pumps you are literally letting money go down the drain. Supplyhouse was very attentive to the order and I received the order in just a couple of days. I will definitely look to supplyhouse.com for future purchases of this nature.

This pump is used on the longest run that we have in the house (not whole house). It is in the kitchen. Hot water when we get up, off during the day and on again before preparing dinner. Saves a bunch of water and wait time.

Good thing it has a pilot light, it is so quite you could not tell it was runing without the light. Be sure to get the model with the temperature switch (aquastat.)
