Figured that replacing a leaking tank myself would be cheaper in the long run (than having my local HVAC contractor replace the tank for free...but then add on numerous services charges!), I selected Pexsupply.com for my purchase of a new Honeywell HM512 water tank.

The only problem was that Honywell mislabelled the original box, and I received a smaller tank for an HM506.

Nicole at Pexsupply.com customer service was more than helpful in searching inventory for the correctly sized HM512 tank, and got me the new one as soon as she could. Even then, the new tank was still missing the sediment screen, so Nicole expedited out a new screen to me ASAP.

My humidifier is back together and working as intended.

A big thanks to Nicole and her staff for going the extra mile to correct a manufacturer's mulitple errors!

Honeywell humidifiers are made of plastic. Hot water deforms and destroys these plastic parts every one to two years. They are designed to constantly require parts. You will be buying an endless number of replacement parts as long as you have the unit. This is my second water tank to replace in three years. I have already replaced three water level sensors, two gaskets, and one valve. It would have been cheaper on my wallet and my time if I had bought a decent humidifier about 40% more expensive than Honeywell, but I didn't know then.

Replacement tank

Comments about Large Water Tank For TrueSTEAM (HM512 & HM509):

I have Honeywell HM506. Original tank has been discontinued but this tank was listed as the replacement. The only problem with the install was that there is a raised "fin" on the inside back of the new tank that prevented it from being installed. I used my Dremel to remove the fin and a razor to clean off the excess and the tank fit perfectly. Delivery was fantastic and kit includes new gasket and screen. This gasket looks better than the original foam gasket I've had to replace twice in 5 years. Hope this one will last longer.

Arrived the next day. Fits snug but perfectly. Came with gasket, and sediment screen.

Yes it is plastic so it will where out over the years. Got 5 years out of the original tank before it cracked. Love how the humidifier makes the air feel in the house. Worth the maintenance.

My old tank was cracked and leaking water. This new replacement works as described and fits perfectly. So glad to have my humidifier working again. Lots of heat generated there, so I am hoping that this will last longer than the original.

Water tank was leaking

By Jim

from Parker, CO

Comments about Large Water Tank For TrueSTEAM (HM512 & HM509):

My Truesteam 512 was leaking from the water connection area. I took it off and cleaned, even used a non-petroluem lubricant to soften up the rubber. It still leaked.

The unit is only 3 years old so it's a bit disturbing that it leaked already.

There is no way to disassemble the latch and port so I had to replace the entire thing.

The replacement works fine for now but I would prefer a more modular parts systems which allows me to replace only what's broken.

Seems superior to the original part

Comments about Large Water Tank For TrueSTEAM (HM512 & HM509):

I have the TruSTEAM HM512. The replacement unit is black instead of the grey unit in the picture. It seems to be made of a more durable plastic than the original TruSTEAM base.

One month after I purchased this replacement part it is working perfectly but only time will tell regarding its long-term durability.

On a sidenote SupplyHouse.com (located in NY) got this to me (in MD) within 24 hours - Wow!

I don't know exactly. However, I do know that this bucket fits my old (first
generation) Honeywell 12 gal humidifier. I believe the openings on all
models are the same dimensions if you are looking to put a bigger tank on a
      smaller model
