Used this to supply control power to a whole house humidifier control circuit I installed. No problems and lots of mounting bracket options to accommodate your application. Great value.

                Q:

Can I use this transformer with v8043 E 1004? If so, how many zone valves can I connect to the transformer? I'm installing an 10 zone system expandable to 12 zones.

You can use more than one transformer per zone valve but I only use one because it will get overloaded if one valve starts binding up.

A quick search shows each valve is 7.7 VA, wants to connect minimum 10. However transformer is 40VA, so if all acted at once there would be problems

I'm assuming that the pictured xformer is the one you want to use as a
replacement. It looks like that model can be used with a plate mount or
stand alone so as long as the winding ratio, voltage and volt-amp (VA)
ratings match it should work fine. That's a 5:1 (120Vac to 24Vac) step
down control xformer if memory serves. I found the average output on that
                  model to be 27Vac.

It may be OK, but do yourself a favor and use two power supplies so if there is a problem you know exactly where it is.

                  A:

Each valve draws .3 amps. A 40va transformer can handle 1.6 amps at 24
volts. So your total of .6 amps is well within the limits of the
                  transformer.
