Comments about 1-1/4" Sediment Removal Water Filter (Plastic):
I manage an 82 acre camp and retreat center with 6 rental cottages, dorm, and certified retail food kitchen. Recently we had to replace our well and main water lines and install new pressure tank and treatment system. We use a rust treatment tank, water softener, and a UV system with 5 micron prefilter. We made the decision to install the 100 micron sediment filter upstream from the other treatment equipment. After setting for auto backwash every 8 hours we came back the next day to find the sediment filter 90% clogged. It was easy to take apart and clean and put back into service. We now autoflush every 15 minutes (flush takes about 8 seconds) and it does an amazing job. I hate to think of all that gunk clogging our system. The several contractors involved are so impressed that they wanted the info to order one for their own residences. Our system has settled down but we retained the 15 minute setting to insure optimum performance. Thanks for a great product.

Never change filters again!

Comments about 3/4" Sediment Removal Water Filter (Plastic):
Purchased this for renovation of a 1949 triplex rental property. Aging pipes combined with aquifer water led to cloudy water and residue buildup on fixtures. Installation immediately resulted in clear tap water. Purchase of the automatic backwash control makes this unit almost maintenance-free. When combined with an electronic descaler to incoming water lines for each unit, the lifetime of the new tankless water heaters surpasses that of traditional units. Best of all - no costly filter replacements!

I use this as a whole-house filter. This is the second filter of this brand I have used. The previous filter lasted 10 years. The only thing I don't like is that I have a lot of sediment in my well during particularly wet seasons and the filter needs to be backflushed frequently (sometimes several times per day) and disassembled at least once a week to scrub the filter element.
Worth the $$$
Pros - Very sturdy, compared to other filters looked at. Clear casing for filter showed that is was doing it's job and earning it's price in the first minute. The union type fittings on the filter housing save alot of space over a regular union, which was a plus in our case. Minimal pressure drop with our 50 psi, 10 - 20 gpm system - about 2 - 3 psi. Backwash valve on the bottom is very handy.Cons - supplied plastic pressure gauge required waaay too many wraps of teflon tape to seal the threads.

Third of these we are using
from San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Comments about 2" Sediment Removal Water Filter (Plastic):
We originally installed two of these 2" filters in parallel to filter all water coming on to our hotel property. Our water is supplied from wells and silicates are a major problem. The filters (100 micron) trap the silicates and save our downstream faucets, shower heads and other plumbing parts from damage. We were spending a couple of thousand dollars per year on pluming repair kits and this expense has now dropped to nearly zero since we installed the filters. The filters are easy to install and maintain. We have now installed a third filter on a secondary water service entrance (back-up to primary entrance) to give us coverage for that service should it be necessary to use it.Be careful of the pressure gauges that screw into the top of the filter. These are relatively fragile plastic, in my view, and if you knock one off, the filter is useless until the meter is replaced. These gauges should have been made of brass and should have come with a spare plug in case the user prefers not to mount the gauge.

Great, sturdy & economic product
from Scottsdale, Arizona
When coming back from vacation we found a significant amount of silt coming out of our faucets, chemical analysis showed high amounts of iron and silica particles, none of which we normally have within the house water system. We decided to install a water filter for the incoming city water and choosing this filter was straight forward for us. We knew this specific product from our time in Europe where they are used a lot. Design is sturdy with a brass made unit head, a stainless steel metal screen filter that can be easily back flushed, and a life expectancy well over 10 years. The biggest advantage is that there is no need to routinely change costly filters. The only downside when ordering this product was that we could not specify the filter sizing, the unit only comes with a 100 micron screen, different diameter screens are available but need to be ordered separately. We like the sliding plastic ring at the bottom that allows capturing when you last back flushed the screen.
Excellent quality and ease of use
We installed 2, 2" filters in parallel. We are providing water to 50, 2-bedroom villas spread over 4 acres of land in Nicaragua. The two filters easily deliver an average of 50 GPM and about twice that at peak. The filters are easy to install and even easier to maintain. We have a lot of particulate in our water including sedimentary silicates that plague our faucets, shower heads, etc. The filter (50-micron) does a great job screening out the particulates and is very easy to back flush for cleaning. We are not currently using the automatic back flush attachment.A minor complaint - the top-mounted plastic pressure gauge does not have an o-ring to seal it and it has to be twisted tightly into the pre-drilled and threaded hole to prevent leakage. This suggests its fragility. If the gauge were broken off, there would be no substitute plug for the hole rendering the filter useless. This is an oversight on the part of the manufacturer in my view.
appears to be a well made product

two demerits kept this from being a great product1. a wall mounting bracket should be available2. something other than a friction fit gauge. perhaps adding an o-ring like the vent plug. its not leaking but i'm uncomfortable with it thanks for a very nice product
Not for all sediments
from Licensed in MA, CT, NY, and CO
Works great if your sediment is fine particulates coming from granite or sand. It is basically worthless if your sediment is contaminated with clay. Which would appear orange. I installed one after realizing this was the customers issue. It would therefore clog and would not work, we bascially had to by pass it afterwards or constantly backwash it. Otherwise it works great.
