Description for Honeywell HE300A1005

TrueEASE humidifiers run water and air through the system when humidity is needed; using less water and saving energy by eliminating the constant cycling of air, saving customers water, energy and money. Plus, since humidified air feels warmer, customers can turn their thermostats down to help reduce heating bills.

Thanks to TrueEASE's patented design with multiple snap-into-place configuration options, obstructions such as pipes or compact spaces with tightly fit water heaters will no longer complicate installations.

Features:

  • Up to 50% Water Savings on Advanced Fan-Powered Models - Timer-metered solenoid wets the pad only as needed, reducing water waste by as much as 30% and savings up to 10,000 gallons of water per year
  • Quietest Residential Fan Humidifier - The centrifugal wheel and propeller fan design makes TruEASE quieter than standard variable HVAC systems and more than 20 dB quieter than equivalent competitive residential fan humidifiers
  • One-Piece Design - Mounting screws are located around the perimeter of the humidifier, making it easy to install in a single step rather than mounting a separate frame assembly.
  • Integrated Wiring - Push terminals make TrueEASE simple to wire and the integrated control board eliminates cost and time spent on separate relays typically required to deliver additional humidity by forcing the fan. Simply flip a DIP switch to set advanced humidification options.
  • Quick-Connect Plumbing - All plumbing is connected in a single step by attaching the hose to the quick-connect gasket
  • Familiar Footprint - Installs in the same space as existing bypass humidifiers for easy retrofit upgrades. A foam seal ensures a tight fit
  • User Friendly Pad Access - Easy slide-out design means there's no disassembly of the humidifier or interaction the the plumbing needed to change the pad

This unit does a great job pumping out humid air. My gripe is with the way the unit is designed. If you have a sealed system this unit will destroy that seal. The vented fan causes 2 problems: 1. When it is running the fan pulls air in through the vents you see in the photograph. I can't think of many HVAC locations where you'd want an air intake right there. And there's no connection it to duct it into the return or another fresh air source. 2. When the unit is not running your heat (in winter) or cold (in summer) blows back out those same vents, so you end up heating or cooling the space around the HVAC. Very poor design with this unit.

First off, I had to have a piece of duct made to level and plumb the unit onto the plenum, and the sheet metal shop charged $319.00 because of the oval opening, which in a heavier guage metal was very difficult to do accurately, they said it took three hours. Why can't they do a simple rectangle?
Then, they supply a shark-bite type connector for the water supply, which just falls apart immediately. when I tried to find a brass replacement, the threading is an strange in-between size which even Johnstone could not match. They advised me to epoxy it together. Nice work Honeywell.

I bought this Honeywell Humidifier in January 2011. It was installed by a reputable Heating and A/C company. After 18 months it stopped working. Called in same installer, diagnosed as having a "bad board". Product was replaced under a 5 year parts warranty. However the product only carries a one year labor warranty. Had to pay $214 labor cost, and this was after a $66 discount after complaining to the management. I would not recommend anyone buy this Honeywell product. I look at it every day now, since I'm not sure if it will continue running...and worry about how much more it is going to cost me.

You can use either hot or cold. If the humidifier only runs when the heat is on, it won't matter. Hot might help when only using the fan with the humidifier. I connected to cold.

What should the humidity be inside a home?
Generally, the relative humidity should be between 40% and 50%.
Will this work on any Heat and air unit?
It's not possible to state if it will work on any heat and air unit because
of all the variables associated with each system. You must compare the
requirements of the humidifier with your specific system. From the HE-350
Honeywell manual, the following requirements must be present in your system
                                    to successfully use this humidifier:
-Access to supply side duct. You can't mount this on the return side duct.
                                    -Ambient Temperature 34-90 degrees (F).
-Access to cold or hot water supply pipe; floor, or other, drain; and 120VAC
                                    power receptacle.
-Mounting surface must be able to support weight of humidifier (about 16
                                    lbs).
-Must be mounted on a vertical surface, level and plumb (you can't turn it
                                    sideways for example).
-Ensure mounting area allows access to remove/replace unit cover and also
                                    humidifier pad
-Unit needs to extend into plenum about 1-3/4" (check clearance to air
                                    conditioner evaporator coil (if present)
                                    -Humidistat mounts on return duct.
-Generally compatible with 24VAC control wiring. Connections to heating

No, the water source feeds into an open pan that trickles the water down through the filter that air is blown through. If the unit was on its side it would just leak water out of the side of the unit onto the ground.

No - the water supply relies on gravity to pull the water down through the
pad. If you mount the unit horizontally, the water will never enter the pad
and will just leak into your HVAC ducts.
