Made my house into two zones

Comments about TrueZONE Kit with DATS, Transformer and HZ322 Panel:

Directions were rather good on how to install. I also went online to honeywell's website to get a better understanding of how the entire system works. Used thermostat wire to run all the connections to the dampers, back to the control system. Control system also connected to the equipment. Luckily the wiring to the equipment I was able to use same wiring from previous thermostat. Added another thermostat in another area and connected it to this system. This took me a while because accessing all the spaces in the house were a pain. But after getting all the wiring straightened out and ran a test, and now the system is working great. I finally have even temperature in both sides of my house. Best device ever. Plus my heating fan now turns off properly it never did before.

My three zone issue was resolved after upgrading with this HZ322 panel. A great AC installer that knows its product was helpful too. If all the cables are installed in their right place this products works great. The setup its pretty easy too for anyone that follows directions.

This controller is a cinch to install. The product works as described. Honeywell is a trusted name so I did not think twice about it's quality before I purchased.
The only downside, each zone is limited to how many powered dampners can be used. I have 1 zone that exceeded the output VA rating; but luckily I have electrical background where I was able to work around this issue.
Pex Supply's pricing is by far the best I have seen. Very nice people to deal with, and shipping was in a timely fashon. Hats off to Pex Supply!!!

So the controller works great. Instructions weren't the best for install. Use solid wire, otherwise you will have to tin the end of stranded wire. I wish you could turn the two minute purge cycle off. My fan kicks and is very noticable when it goes to the purge cycle.

Product works well. I used this to replace a fried Trol A Temp board that was hit by a power surge. Before purchase I looked through the instructions online and had some questions, but it all worked out as planned. I think the instructions could be more detailed about the options and how they work. I tried leaving in the old duct temp sensor, but didn't work with the new board or may have been bad, good news is this kit comes with a new DATS sensor. I was able to easily remove the actual sensor and install in my old housing since the old housing fits better in my application. The actual temp shows on the board screen. Push in connectors worked as advertised, all good connections and no problems. I mounted this board sideways since it was taller than my old board, but no problems since it can be installed in any orientation. I used conventional thermostats on a heat pump system, simply connect thermostats as you would for conventional stats to the board per the CONV diagram, but then attach the heat pump to the board using the HEAT PUMP diagram. When you program the board via the LCD screen, you will be able to let the board know your configuration and it will take care of the rest. Note that only heat pump thermostats will allow the user to set Emergency Heat mode from the stat, otherwise you can set it on from the button on the board. Running through the setup including the advanced configuration I thought was rather quick and easy. In test mode you can test each damper with the fan running to see they are all working properly. You can test heat/cool, etc. as well. You can also test each tsat mode to make sure wiring is correct and connected properly. The system is very flexible and was a great drop in replacement for my old board, but with more options such as more timer settings for the second stage heat. No need to worry about DIP switches on this board, it's all on screen and maintains memory in the event of a power failure. The kit also includes a transformer to power the board if you need it. The transformer can be powered by 120 or 240 volt. You may want to consider surge protecting the circuit since this is how my original board was fried.

It will stage the system up or down (if configured to do so) if the discharge air temp gets too high (heating) or too cold (cooling). On a single stage system, as far as I know, it will just display the discharge temp which is helpful for monitoring or troubleshooting the system. For example, during cooling an abnormally low temp could mean a clogged filter, etc. I hope this helps!

If you are controlling a heat-pump with one compressor stage plus electric strips, the HZ322 can use the outdoor sensor to lock out the strips if the outside temperature is above the multistage OT lockout setting. There is no other reason to use an outdoor sensor with an HZ322 unless you also have wireless thermostats. If you have TH5320R or TH6320R thermostats with the HZ322, THM4000R, and C7089R then the outside temperature can be displayed on each of the wireless thermostats.
