Comments about TrueZONE Kit with DATS, Transformer and HZ322 Panel:

I purchased this item to DIY a zone system for my HVAC system. 3rd floor bonus gets hot in summer and cold in winter. Our system supplies the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor. Along with Honeywell thermostats and 2 dampers, I started the work.

The benefit of the TrueZONE kit is that it was simple to set up and connect. It requires some basic electrical and HVAC know-how since you need to hook up the 24V transformer to the house's electric, and works best with installing dampers in your HVAC lines (otherwise, why would you need a zoning system).

Be careful to read the instructions on the setup. Once you get this fired up, the out-of-box defaults are likely not to comply with your current system. For example, the default is for the HVAC to control the fan, instead of the zone system. Overall, easy setup, can accept damper wiring in parallel, and seems to be working effortlessly since I installed this (albeit it's only been 6 days).

I always faced the temperature difference on the second floor. This device solves that problem. Now the temperature difference is about 1.5 degree. I would recommend this device to my friend

Directions were rather good on how to install. I also went online to honeywell's website to get a better understanding of how the entire system works. Used thermostat wire to run all the connections to the dampers, back to the control system. Control system also connected to the equipment. Luckily the wiring to the equipment I was able to use same wiring from previous thermostat. Added another thermostat in another area and connected it to this system. This took me a while because accessing all the spaces in the house were a pain. But after getting all the wiring straightened out and ran a test, and now the system is working great. I finally have even temperature in both sides of my house. Best device ever. Plus my heating fan now turns off properly it never did before.

My three zone issue was resolved after upgrading with this HZ322 panel. A great AC installer that knows its product was helpful too. If all the cables are installed in their right place this products works great. The setup its pretty easy too for anyone that follows directions.

This controller is a cinch to install. The product works as described. Honeywell is a trusted name so I did not think twice about it's quality before I purchased.
The only downside, each zone is limited to how many powered dampners can be used. I have 1 zone that exceeded the output VA rating; but luckily I have electrical background where I was able to work around this issue.

Will the HZ322 replace this board without any complications, just by transferring the wiring on the board, replacing the transformer and DAT ?

It will stage the system up or down (if configured to do so) if the discharge air temp gets too high (heating) or too cold (cooling). On a single stage system, as far as I know, it will just display the discharge temp which is helpful for monitoring or troubleshooting the system. For example, during cooling an abnormally low temp could mean a clogged filter, etc. I hope this helps!

If you are controlling a heat-pump with one compressor stage plus electric strips, the HZ322 can use the outdoor sensor to lock out the strips if the outside temperature is above the multistage OT lockout setting. There is no other reason to use an outdoor sensor with an HZ322 unless you also have wireless thermostats. If you have TH5320R or TH6320R thermostats with the HZ322, THM4000R, and C7089R then the outside temperature can be displayed on each of the wireless thermostats.
