Comments about High Limit Vertical Mount Aquastat Relay, 15°F differential:

I have had my boiler for 35 years and I am on my fourth Honeywell Aquastat. The first unit lasted for 25 years, but the last three only lasted for 2-3 heating seasons before the relay went out. The relay is a cheap piece of junk that would only cost about $3.00 if it were replaceable, but it is built in.

Comments about High Limit Vertical Mount Aquastat Relay, 15°F differential:

We live in the Mid-Atlantic region, and we love the heat supplied by our 20 year old Slant Fin boiler. The system's only weakness is the Honeywell Aquastat relay. This is the second Aquastat that has failed in the 8 years we've owned the house. Our HVAC repairman informed us that these relays have a short life expectancy and our experience with the product is fairly typical. The relay worked well, up to the point of its early demise. Because of that, and because options for replacement are limited, we purchased the Aquastat again. PexSupply.com sent us the part quickly and their price was very good. Outstanding service from Pex Supply.

I have a old Buderus boiler hot water , It has been starting to have issues with pressure side so I put on a new Prv and a new expansion tank but I am still having issues so what i do is fill boiler to 12 psi and then shut off water supply I will end up over pressure and then the relife blows and then im down to zero . Could the aqaustat be the reason and if so I have a Type L8148E combined circulator load I need to know if this model will work in replacement and also if you think this may help my problem Thanks

                                                            hello
did you check the pressure in expansion tank with a pressure gauge?
should be 12psi cold and 0 psi in boiler, then fill boiler to 12psi
what temp is the aquastat set at and is the boiler going higher than set temp
                                                            should be set @ 180F
sometimes you have to bleed a little pressure off from a cold start
if all correct, boiler shouldn't go over 30psi and blow relief

I have a burnham boiler(pv8346-tbwn) with a honeywell L8124a1015 aquastat but have a separate hot water heater. Is this the right replacement for the 8124a1015 so the boiler only runs when there is a call for heat?

In a previous question, you state that the difference between the L8148E1299 and the L8148E1265 are the operating ranges. The L8148E1299 has an operating range of 120 F to 240 F and 54 C to 116 C. The L8148E1265 has an operating range of 180 F to 240 F and 100 C to 133 C. Why would one ever buy the 1265 (180-240 deg F) over the 1299 (120-240 F) if that is the only difference?

I have a boiler that has an Aquastat L8148E1216. It no longer controls the temp. Looking at the Honeywell site it is obsolete. It was an OEM Aquastat but its layout and wiring seem to be the same as the L8148E1265 & 1299. My range is 140 F to 240 F. I am thinking I can use an L8148E1299 as a replacement. This is on a Milwaukee Thermoflo boiler used for baseboard heating.
Do you think the 1299 would be a good replacement?
