Comments about 1/2" NPT Dual Check Intermediate Vacuum Breaker:

Has fittings for both 1/2 inch sweat and thread so works on either. Couplings that allow valve to be replaced or repaired without disturbing plumbing.

Comments about 1/2" NPT Dual Check Intermediate Vacuum Breaker:

Installed as a backflow preventer for my boiler. Keeps contaminated boiler system water from getting back to the house water supply. Easy to install with both sweat and threaded fittings (I used the sweat fitting).

Comments about 3/4" NPT Dual Check Intermediate Vacuum Breaker:

Installed on the water feed to my boiler system, got it back up and running quickly. Valve appears to be well made, and was just what I needed to protect the drinking water from back siphoning the boiler water into it.

Does the job but beware....

Comments about 1/2" NPT Dual Check Intermediate Vacuum Breaker:

Used this to replace a failed one ( began to leak from the vent) on my water supply to the boiler. The previous one failed after only a few months of use (new home)and I am convinced it is because I have a water hammer problem after installing a booster pump on my system. (street pressure is only 14 pounds so we boosted it with a well pump to 50 pounds). I have a water hammer arrestor on order from Pex and will install this valve after I install the water hammer arrestor.

Yes. It is typically used for boiler feed water from a potable source. Should work fine for a water heater.

Yes, however, thanks to our new government rules, it is suppose to be lead free for potable water use as of a couple months ago.
