I have installed several of these digital thermostat's for friends in the past few years, and they are highly satisified with it's simple to operate features, and it's high accuracy. Earlier models of this thermostat had problems with erratic temperature fluctuations due to faulty sensing thermistor; however, Honeywell seems to have resolved this problem. Overall, this is now a top performer!

Comments about Round Non-Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

I'm a homeowner, installed this unit as a replacement for Honeywell round analog mercury thermostat. It was very easy to install, pretty much a direct replacement. Much more accurate! Easy to set. No batteries to replace. I didn't want a programmable unit, this fit the bill perfectly for me.

Comments about Round Non-Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

I installed it in less than 15 minutes. It is
accurate within 1 degree. My old unit was 5-6 degrees off and seemed the ac was on constantly. MY house was either to cold or to warm. I love the new unit and the ease of use.

Design is great, past reliability low

Comments about Round Non-Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

This is my 3rd purchase of this model to replace the same model thermostat; two previous failures. I really like the simple ergonomic design and it controls temp very well for a couple of years. So I am hopeful that this purchase has an improved long-term reliability. The defect manifests itself as inaccurate sensing of the room ambient temp so the thermostat does not reliably control to the set temp. It starts to show a defect in 2 or 3 years and can be off as much as 4 degrees or more. I would expect at least 8 or 10 years from a solid-state device.

no batteries needed

Comments about Round Non-Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

I use this when there is no common wire to the thermostat. The ones that run on batteries have a tendency to stick on when the batteries get low. I've went on many service call where the furnace won't shut off and its a battery powered stat with low batteries. I have had this about 2% of these stat not want to adjust right, but 5 year warranty no hassles in exchange.

    Q:

Digital readout says room temp is 81 with small blinking icon to the left of the number, room temp is set at 72 on cool and auto.Don't have the owners' manual so no way to assess problem or what this icon means. Thanks

      A:

Icon to left of temp should display flame in heat mode, or snowflake in
cooling mode. If system not working dip switches or wiring could be
incorrect for type of system. See attached instructions.

      A:

What you see is probably a small flashing snowflake which means if a call for cooling is made before the compressor has
been off for five minutes, or if a power interruption occurs while the compressor is running, the thermostat
will go into a five-minute delay to protect the compressor. The snowflake will flash during this delay. (A steady snowflake
      is normal cooling cycle)
This can happen if you turn the thermostat up ( turning off the a/c), than turning it back down to soon (turning on the a/c).
Foot note: If the five minute delay isn't enough, this can cause the a/c compressor to "lock up" if it hasn't had time to "decompress",
and seems to be running but not cooling. This is also common during quick power outages or "brown outs". If this is the case,
shut off the a/c unit via the breaker for about 15 minutes than turn it back on.

      A:

If you have the switch set to COOL, and everything is fine, a "snowflake"
should be ON steady in the upper left corner. The manual says, "If a call
for cooling is made before the compressor has been off for five minutes, or
if a power interruption occurs while the compressor is running, the
thermostat will go into a five minute delay to protect the compressor. The
snowflake ] will flash during the delay." Based on that - if your problem
lasts longer than 5 minutes - I would check that all wires in the system are
      attached securely.

Does the T8775c T-Stat need the common side or both sides of the transformer supplied to the T-stat.

    Thanks

      A:

The T8775 does not require a common wire, as it has a power-robbing design. You must have a minimum of 20 vac that is always available at the subbase.

    Q:

I bought 4 of the T8775C1005 stats to replace my old mech ones. But, I have a strange problem. I am using them for heat only on a hot water boiler system with Taco zone valves. I installed one first per instructions with the resister provided for the zone valve. It appears to work at first then it goes nuts. It will continue to call for heat even if I switch it to the off position. The temp display will show the temp 78 or higher even though it is not that high. Sometimes the display flashes the temp. After checking the install I thought it must be a bad stat. I put another new one on and it does the same thing. I put my old stat back on and it works fine???Do these thermostats work ok with Taco zone valves? The paperwork says they will. Any ideas?

    Q:

My current round non-programmable T8775C1005 shows a room temperature approximately 4 to 5 degrees warmer than the actual room temperature in both heat and cool mode. This causes the house to be cooler than desired as the furnace or a/c cycles on/off relative to the room temp. Any repair or should I replace the thermostat with a new one?
    Asked on 12/28/2010 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The location of where the thermostat is mounted (by a window for example) could be causing the discrepancy between the actual room temperature and what the thermostat is reading. If location of the thermostat is not an issue, the thermostat itself may be defective.

    Q:

I have this thermostat, and it is approximately 5 years old. I can't find the owners manual. It seems like it has a regulator that causes it to not kick in at night, is that possible?
    Asked on 11/22/2010 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The T8775C1005 is a digital, non-programmable 1Heat/1Cool thermostat only and is powered through the system heating controls. There is no regulator that comes with this specific thermostat, so it cannot be the reason why you are having this issue.
