Let me share something I recently learned with you. I've worked with PEX a lot, but never for heating applications, always domestic water. In the smaller 3/4" and 1/2" sizes, the fittings are pretty much all the same size, everywhere. But in the 1" size they're commonly available in both "pipe" and "fitting" sizes.

The descriptions aren't that obvious, and I bought the wrong thing TWICE before I realized what I had done. The title says "1-inch x 1-inch copper fitting adapter". Unless you key in on the word "fitting" you won't realize that the part is actually 1/8" or so undersized and can't be used (without a coupler). If you're converting actual 1" copper PIPE to PEX, this is the adapter you need.

I used these adapters to connect 3/4" oxygen-barrier pex to 3/4" copper baseboard. They do that job well. Using pex for heating affords you the opportunity to see where the air bubbles are and I noticed air bubbles forming around all my adapters. I have numerous device and points to purge air from the system, and I have been unable to get the air out wherever these connectors are located. I've arrived at the conclusion that the shape of these adapters agitates the water and releases air bubbles, that eventually coalesce into a large bubble. Obviously a problem for any hydronic system, the baseboards perform less and the system becomes noisy. Its not terrible, under most circumstances I can't hear anything, but I'm a perfectionist.

I do suspect this product was discontinued when this problem was discovered, and it will be replaced with a product with tapered edges.

Rifeng H027550LF Same as Watts 0653168

Comments about 3/4" PEX x 1/2" Copper Pipe Brass Adapter (Lead Free):

There was some confusion as to what type (male or female) the ends of this part were. I can confirm the sweat fitting is female and fits 1/2" copper pipe. i.e. it fits over the pipe and gets soldered. This makes the Rifeng H027550LF the exact same part as the discontinued Watts 0653168. This part has great quality and has been working great on my project.

I used these adapters to connect 3/4 copper to 3/4 pex. The adapters worked just as expected. They fit very well on both ends without the slop I've experienced with some other pex products.

Bought 2 packages of 25 pieces, when using them I noticed that there was a difference in the inside diameter. of the 50 pieces we had 7 that was too small to use. Quality control is lacking.

The pictured fitting will sweat (soldier) on OVER the copper pipe. I think there are other fittings available that would soldier inside the copper pipe. They will look shinny on the copper pipe end. Hope this helps.

      A:

the 3/4" copper goes into the fitting, the pex goes on the outside of the ribbed end. A suggestion if you're trying to make this connection would be a gatorbite connector. Not sure if they sell at this website, but they do at the box stores. You wouldn't have to solder the copper that way.

      A:

PEX is not like copper in that it is not sized based off of the ID or the OD. If the PEX tubing has 5/8" stamped on it then yes this fitting will work for your application.
