These are worth their weight in gold if

Comments about 1/2" PEX x 1/2" PB Coupling:

You need this adapter with the old style PB water tubing that can still be found in older mobile homes in some locales. The PB tubing is more thin than regular tubing, the inside diameter is slightly larger in this case. This adapter lets you still use the old PB water tubing a little longer without having to replace it all with much better PEX water tubing. My regular PEX tools and crimps still work fine with the adapter and PB tubing too.

Used with ss clamps

Comments about 1/2" PEX x 1/2" PB Coupling:

The fitting and crimp rings work as they are expected to. My only real comment here is to say that I use these fittings with SS clamps instead of the crimp rings. I specialized in mobile home repair, so I use a lot of these fittings. Never a failure using the SS clamps. I am sure the copper crimps work equally as well.

    Q:

Which side goes to the PEX and which to the PB?

The side with the most ribs goes in the PB pipe. The ribs for the pex pipe
      are farther apart.

Small close rings are pb pipe, wide rings pex.

actually meant thinner walls / larger *ID* of the PB pipe, not OD, outside
      diameter

      A:

The side with 3 ribs go to the PEx. The side with more ribs has a slightly
larger diameter to account for the thinner walls / larger OD of the PB
pipe. Also, you can see the 3 rib side matches your elbows, Tees and other
      fitting for PEx.
As a side note, I use the stainless steel clamp style rings with these and
they work fine. If your clamp tool is set just a little too tight, it can
bust the ring before the tool shows fully clamped.

  • 1/2" PEX x 1/2" PB Coupling

    Q:

All of the Pex PB couplings I have purchased elsewhere come with 2 different copper crimp rings that appear to be sized differently for the PB side. Your fittings dont have rings so I assume you want me to use standard rings, why do your fittings not need specific sized rings?

      A:

PEX and polybutylene of the same nominal size have the same outside diameter but a different inside diameter. As a result, the barbs on each end of a PEX x PB coupling are not the same, but the same rings and crimping tool can be used on both sides.

This fitting is used to connect 1/2" PEX to 1/2" Polybutylene.

      A:

No, this fitting is not for use with cpvc. To connect cpvc to PEx, add a threaded (1/2", 3/4" or 1") FIP or MIP connector to the cpvc.
