I have purchased all supplies for plumbing a lower level addition to my condo, including full kitchen, full bath and bar from PexSupply. Delivery was fast, prices much less than local big box stores, and when one item was missed on a shipment it was at my door within 24 hours of notice. Thanks!

    Q:

I have 8" poured foundation. Will I be able to get the PEX tubing and crimp ring on this one or do I need to get 10" and have it protrude 2" on the inside?

When u work with the clamp ring tool, always be sure you are crimping in an op space. Get the longer version.

I just measured the one I have not installed. It is 8 3/8 from the
flange that mounts to the outside of the house (your foundation) to the
spot where the pex would butt up to after being pushed onto the silcock
      and crimped.
If your foundation is exactly 8" it should work. If you have the room
and want to be safe, I would go with the 10".

      A:

      Woodsy,
You might be able to do it with an 8", but it will be close. I would go to the 10" for the following reasons:
      1) tightness, you need room to work, so the 10" will give you more room to put your rings on and crimp.
      2) you have to remember that on this type of rost proof sillcock, the actual valve is on the end opposite the handle.
Being up against a concrete wall, will mean that it will get very cold, and possibly freeze, even though it is in the crawl space. The concrete sucks the heat right out of any metal, the further you have that end of the valve into the crawl space the better.
on my sillcocks, i only needed about 8", but got longer so the valve end would be way inside the crawl space so they would not freeze. also remember that if you put a screw-on vacuum breaker on the hose end ( may be required by code in your area), this device will hold water between the valve end and the vacuum breaker, defeating the frost proof design. You just have to remember to take off the screw-on vacuum breaker and drain the valve in the Fall.
      good luck!

If I had the room I would always go with the longer one. Then you can seal
around it and not worry about being too short. Also trying to crimp that
close to the wall is tricky. Do your self a favor and go long

      A:

This sillcock is frost free because the stopper is near the 1/2" PEX fitting. That area will be warmer and the water will not freeze. Usually, the stopper is at the handle where the water can freeze due to outdoor temperatures.
