We renovated our laundry room area and this flush mounted box enabled use to place our washer and dryer flush against the wall giving us the freedom to put a countertop over them. The ease of installation with the hydro pex fittings purchased on the site was so simple. The price was incomparably less than those large home centers.

Appears to be the lowest cost solution to install a washer box. Plastic housing seems to be cheap and brittle, but works fine. 1/4 turn ball valves are decent, however they are slightly difficult to turn and will spin in the box, unless torqued tightly to the aforementioned cheap box (which is a concern).

Recommended for cost savings only. Would not install in a higher end project.

Installed this to replace an old ghetto galvanized hookup system. Installed easily and quickly. The shutoffs work well and the 2" drain pipe slot fits great.

Simple to install. I am no plumber and lack any soldering skills. Idiot proof. I would like to see PEX throughout the house.

Great valves, poor quality plastic

By Mxslick

from Atomic City, Idaho

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

I gave this product four stars ONLY because of the quality of the valves...the plastic box, as other reviewers have noted, is thin and too flimsy IMHO. I also do not like the way the knockouts for the drain are made.

BUT, the valves alone are well worth the price...so my advice is, get this for the valves and get one of the other brands of wall boxes as a bare unit (one brand in particular is available as a bare box for very little money...too bad we can't mention brands or prices in these reviews...) and you will still be money ahead AND have the best in both valves and wall box.

Solid high-quality valves

By Jim

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

I don't know about the box, because I didn't use it. It seems a bit flimsy. I mounted the valves on a metal bracket I had made on a concrete wall. I had to get some big washers to hold the threaded stem in the bracket between the top and bottom nuts. The valves seem very solidly made and I like that they are 1/4-turn and color-coded red and blue.

Cheap plastic

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

This is made of very cheap plastic, be very careful when you are knocking out the spaces for the lines to run through, can crack easily. Also, the valves will spin inside the box because of the plastic nut that holds it to the box. Easy to install and looks great just needs to be better built.

Bare Minimum Quality

By JimmyTwoShoes

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

I have successfully installed this product, but it barely meets my standards for quality. The valves feel heavy and appear to be well made, but the plastic box is of very cheap quality. I'm actually surprised that I was able to install this without breaking the thin and brittle plastic.

The box 7" x 9" wide, plus a few mm on each side for slots for the mounting tabs. I still haven't figured out how it is supposed to mount. The outer dimensions of the finish frame are about 8-1/2 x 10-5/8.

  • Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve

    Q:

When you say the box is designed to fit 1.5" PVC, are you referring to the drain? What connectors (part number & brand) do I buy to go from 1/2" PEX tubig to the valves?
Asked on 2/22/2012 by Anonymous from Dallas, TX

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The drain is 1.5" PVC. The valves accept 1/2" PEX using a crimp or clamp connection. You would need a crimping or clamping tool, along with the corresponding 1/2" rings in order to make the fitting.
