not as high quality as hoped

Comments about Snap-N-Loc Strainer - Stainless Steel:

The Snap n Loc is known for it's good seal, hoped it would seal better than the Kohler drains installed a few years ago. The Kohler uses a rubber o-ring which needs frequent replacement.

The Jomar:
- Easy to operate
- It seals very well, with a fat, soft, rubber gasket.
- The seal is incorporated into the basket, so the whole basket is replaced when the seal wears out.
- The basket is undersized within the drain, so there's a nearly 1/8" gap all around it, which lets food go down the drain.
- the metal body of the drain is very thin, relative to the Kohler drain. The Kohler is very thick (may be cast?)

Replacing the o-ring on the Kohler drains, bi-annually, is a better option.

Comments about Snap-N-Loc Strainer - Stainless Steel:

As the product description says...basket seals to the body through a ball bearing in the post creating a positive leakproof seal. Never have to fiddle around trying to make a seal, put the basket in the drain, feel the ball bearing snap into place and no leaks!

Best Kitchen Strainer!

Comments about Snap-N-Loc Strainer - Stainless Steel:

This basket strainer is easy to install and guaranteed not to leak. But the best feature is that the stopper is either engaged or it is not. Unlike other baskets, it does not roll around and "accidentally" become engaged. Makes washing dishes a joy! (Well almost.)

Comments about Snap-N-Loc Strainer - Stainless Steel:

I bought this to replace the same drain I had in my kitchen sink. It works easily and keeps the water in the sink. No gimmicks or tricks to figure out; just push the strainer down and it locks.

    Q:

What are the differences between the SS306 and the SS406? (Other than price.) I need to replace my JOMAR Snap-N-Loc sink strainers and there is no specific part/model number on them, so I want to make sure I order the correct one. Thanks.

      A:

You need to evaluate the manufacturer's datasheets to find all of the details that would pertain to your installation:
      SS-306: http://www.jomarvalve.com/specsheets/SnapNLock.pdf
      SS-406: http://www.jomarvalve.com/specsheets/SnapNLock.pdf
Based upon a quick comparison, it appears that the 306 is brushed stainless / satin nickel finish versus the 406's polished stainless. Likely that unless you had a special "designer" installation, the 406's strainer is what you want.

I looked up both units, and could not find any real difference between the two products, so I ordered the less expensive one (i.e. SS306). I'm not sure why there are two models.

      A:

As far as I can tell there is no difference size-wise.
      However:
      The 306 has a stainless / /*satin nickel*/ basket with elongated holes.
The 406 has a stainless / /*chrome*/ basket with little round holes.
      See the attached.
