The best blade for cutting metal. hands
from Pittsburgh Pa.
Comments about S614R - 6" Bi-Metal Reciprocating Blade, (Metal,Non-Ferrous):
The side of the blade says for metal over 1/8". Schedule 40 pipe's wall is over 1/8" but when you ask for metal cutting blades the counter personal give you 618R. 18 teeth per inch is for thin metal like conduit. You will go thru 5-618R blades before you will go thru 1-614R blade. I was installing some 6" high junior beams with a couple cement finishers who owned there own company and when they saw me cutting thru the beams with little effort they said "we use Lenox blades and we only get 3 or 4 cuts out of one when we use it on I beams but you have cut 12 of them and haven't changed a blade what's your secret?" I ask them what blade they where using. You guessed it 618R. I explained the difference between the blades. I saw the cement finishers a few months later and they said, "Man them 614R blades work wanders on rebar" Da! The last time I checked rebar was over 1/8". By the way, I use 614R blades to cut conduit it is a rough cut but even with a 618R blade I am going to ream the end so I figure why keep different blades the two cost the same but one can do a hell of a lot more then the other.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
