These worked great, but make sure you are shipped the right ones, 3/4" do not fit when 1/2" were ordered.

                                  Q:

One of these is now leaking somewhat from the stem valve when it is more than 30% open. Is there some quick adjustment I can do to stop the leak, or is replacement the only option? It is being used as a washing machine water inlet shutoff valve in an inconvenient location.

Turn off the water supply. Remove the handle and the packing nut around the shaft.Roll up some teflon thread tape into a string like size and wrap it around the shaft a few times. Reinstall the packing nut and retighten until snug and reinstall handle. The teflon tape makes a good packing to seal shaft leaks.

You would likely have to replace the unit as replacement parts are not available.

In addition to the 1/2" mip threads connection ability, is it also possible to sweat 5/8 o.d. copper pipe into these valves?

Yes, the inlet to these valves can accept either 1/2" female threads or 1/2" copper pipe (i.e. pipe with a 5/8" OD).
