The 5000 Series Taco Mixing Valve is a dual-purpose mixing or diverting valve that delivers fail-safe security and superior performance. Mixing Valves are a key component to hydronic heating systems. The Taco Mixing Valves work well in standard heating systems or Radiant Heat Systems. The Taco Mixing Valves come in several different sizes, with sweat connections. Taco makes several lines of hydronic heating valves including these mixing valves, zone valves, and air valves.
Taco Mixing Valves are among the most popular mixing valves in the plumbing and heating industry. The 5000 Series Taco Mixing Valve is a dual-purpose mixing or diverting valve that delivers fail-safe security and superior performance. The Taco Mixing Valve has high flow and low headloss which makes the 5000 Series Taco Mixing Valve ideal for domestic water, radiant applications, installations with large variations in flow rate and supply conditions, and installations that require tightly-controlled water temperature.
Watts is a widely recognized brand in the plumbing and heating industry. The most popular mixing valves found here are the 70A, L70A Hot Water Extender Tempering Valves. These valves are used in residential water supply applications to mix cold and hot water to extend capacity of water heater storage tanks and hot water boiler tankless heaters. It features brass body construction, dial adjustment cap, replaceable thermostat, stainless steel spring and is available with either threaded or solder end connections. The L before these Watts 70A Valves signifies that the valve is low temperature.
Honeywell Mixing Valves are available for residential and commercial applications. The Honeywell AM-1 series is the most popular series among Honeywell Mixing Valves. These valves accurately adjust, maintain and limit the hot water temperature to a desired setting selected by the user. In domestic water applications it offers scalding protection and bacteria growth control. By installing a Honeywell AM-1 mixing valve and raising water heater storage temperature setting and limiting mixed outlet water temperature to safe temperature more usable hot water is available. In heating applications it provides comfort and protects the equipment.
Tekmar Mixing Valves include the 3-way 710-714 series mixing valves and the 4-way 720-724 series mixing valves. These valves are designed for closed or open loop radiant and hydronic heating systems.
Direct or double union SharkBite push-fit connectors provide a simplified, time and labor saving installation. Heatguard valves deliver water at a safe 120F (49C) or lower from all outlets, while allowing the heater to be set at a germ-killing 140F (60C) or higher which aids in preventing the growth of Legionella bacteria in the water heater. And the higher tank temperature means hot water demands can be satisfied longer. Every valve is tested for performance and includes a unique adjuster tool that minimizes tampering with the valve setting. Rugged, simple construction incorporates a precision engineered polymer piston and the latest in thermostatic technology.
The Holby Valve Company offers the first and most-widely specified water tempering valve in the industry. THE HOLBY TEMPERING VALVE is a temperature regulating valve, designed to be used as a master, zone, fixture or individual appliance regulator to control the predetermined temperature of hot water. Water delivered from hot water generating equipment such as storage tanks, heat exchangers, submerged coils, or any other source, is frequently too hot or scalding. This condition can be corrected by the installation of a HOLBY TEMPERING VALVE. It is a necessary part of any submerged tankless water heating system.

Mixing valves mix cold and hot water to a desired temperature for a large variety of radiant heating and domestic water applications. They ensure constant, safe water temperature at faucet and fixture outlets to prevent scalding and thermal shock. They provide a steady mixing temperature within 85-150F degrees. Mixing valves are commonly referred to as thermostatic valves, diverting valves, tempering valves, or anti-scald valves.
How does a mixing valve work?
A thermostat in the mixing chamber of a mixing valve senses the outlet temperature. The thermostat automatically positions a seat assembly which controls the flow of hot and cold water supplied to the mixing chamber. If the mixed outlet temperature increases, the thermostat will expand and open the cold water inlet wider. This allows more cold water to enter the valve. However, if the mixed outlet temperature decreases, the thermostat will contract and open the hot water inlet wider, while simultaneously constricting the cold water inlet. By sensing the outlet temperature, the mixing valve will automatically adjust the flow of hot or cold water to maintain the preset temperature of the valve. In the event of a cold or hot water supply failure, the seat assembly moves to an extreme position and shuts off the hot or cold water inlet.
We offer mixing valves in a wide variety of sizes and connections types manufactured by Taco, Honeywell, Watts, Tekmar, and Holby to suit all of your standard, hydronic or radiant heating systems.
