Description for Rifeng 050-1000-OXY

Rifeng, the largest manufacturer of plastic piping in the world, has created oxygen barrier PEX tubing for radiant and hydronic heating systems. Oxygen barrier PEX tubing has the same properties as non-barrier PEX pipes, but it prevents oxygen and other elements from infiltrating and damaging delicate heating system components. For example, it keeps boilers from rusting. Rifeng PEX pipe is made of polyethelene which is cross-linked to enhance performance and maintain the properties of thermoplastics. Furthermore, this tubing can be installed in a variety of ways, such as using the crimp, clamp, or fitting systems. Rifeng offers a 25-year warranty on the product.

I used this in a concrete slab, after completing this project as a homeowner I found I shouldbe used a 3/4 tubing for an ice melt system. the center to centers are 9" for 5/8 and 12" for 3/4 the 12" centers wouldve made labor much easier to tie the tubing to the grating

We have numerous applications where the tubing size and the jointless quality available due to the length of the coil vs the distance from our control board to a distribution manifold is very desirable in our hydronic applications. However, this tubing is stiff, like all coil pex tubing, and the regular pex rings are very tight to get on, possibly due to the extra coatings necessary to achieve the oxygen barrier rating. Still, there are no real alternatives that use standard Pex connectors, so I do recommend this product as long as users understand the hassles of using it vs 20' straight lengths of tubing (especially since we are unaware of any source of straight length Pex tubing with O2 barrier status).

What % total loss of coating would constitute a hazard to your cast iron components? Are minor scrapes a problem? I intend to use it for connection from hot H2O oil fired boiler (~180F H2O) to an air handler, 32ft round trip. Thanks.

I work closely with my plumber and hvac guy on all this stuff because I am always looking to save money on energy. It is great to install in concrete for heated concrete floors. I will be using it for water cooled air conditioning next spring. It is very durable and not affected by minor scrapes. I believe it is a pvc based product. My oponion is that you will be fine in the application you are using. I have it connected to radiators and industrial hydronic heaters with blower attached. works just fine. the simple answer is you can forget copper and go with pex. it insulates the water as well.

It will be perfectly fine for a outdoor boiler setup at long as you insulate it very well to prevent freezing ..... As far as the taco pump running 125psi that might be the specs to the max psi it can handle , a hot water boiler runs at 12-15 psi anyways.
