I bought some Rifeng fittings based on my favorable experiences with everything I've ever bought from PEX Supply/Supply House. When installing the first fitting I noticed it wasn't as snug inside the pex tubing as other brands of brass crimp fittings. A closer examination revealed the ID of 1/2" Rifeng crimp fittings to be too small for either a Zurn or Apollo crimp ring removal tool, which I suspect comes from the same manufacturer but with a different colored handle cover. Anyone who uses these regularly knows that it's just a matter of time before you'll have to remove a crimp ring and that's wherein the problem lies. Thought the fittings appear to be well made having no visible defects and could very well perform flawlessly, I've decided it is not in my best interest to use them.

Since I did not actually use this fitting, I don't know if this qualifies, but it is made execellently. Nice finished ridges, perfect appearance, and looks like absolutely what I will nead when that moment comes.

Will this work to connect pex-b to pex-A (Uponor/Wirsbo)? Not sure how the pipe inside diameters differ. If at all?

  • 1" PEX x 1" PEX Brass Coupling

    Q:

can this be buried underground , used with Uponor Aquapex, or does Uponor have a comparable coupling
Asked on 7/22/2013 by plumber from Iowa

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

This fitting is approved for direct burial and it is compatible with Uponor AquaPEX tubing. AquaPEX tubing carries the PEX-A grade. This makes it compatible with expansion-type fittings, but it still also works with crimp fittings and other standard styles of PEX adapters.

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I would imagine that the coupling itself would be OK underground (unless
freezing is an issue) since it resides inside the tubing, but I would be
more concerned that the clamps used (outside of the tubing) to secure the
tubing would be exposed and could corrode over time, hence allowing a leak.
I'd coat the whole area with some sort of really good waterproofing/caulking
to prevent moisture from getting at the clamps.

  • 1" PEX x 1" PEX Brass Coupling

    Q:

What is the inside diameter of a "1" coupling?
Asked on 6/21/2012 by Bob from Saline, MI

    2 answers

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

the inside diameter of 1" pex tubing is slightly less than 7/8", so the
coupling ID is smaller than that

      Answered on 6/21/2012 by Anonymous
    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

1" crimp couplings have a 3/4" inside diameter.

  • 1/2" PEX x 1/2" PEX Brass Coupling

    Q:

With PEX-AL-PEX, Can you make the repair using 2 D4120500 fitting assemblies and a A4322020 coupling nipple in concrete?
Asked on 5/1/2012 by Mad at concrete contreactor from Vermont

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

If you need to connect two pieces of PEX-AL-PEX together with compression fittings, you can use either two D4120500 fittings and an A4322020 nipple, or two PAP-0500M fittings and a TB1-08 coupling. You can embed either set of fittings in concrete, but it is best to minimize the amount of embedded fittings to reduce the potential for leaks and preserve the structural integrity of the slab.

  • 1/2" PEX x 1/2" PEX Brass Coupling

    Q:

Will the Rifeng brass couplings work with any brand pex pipe such as Uponor Wirsbo with the brass clamp rings?
    Asked on 3/5/2012 by Anonymous

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The Rifeng brass PEX fittings work with any brand of standard PEX tubing, including Wirsbo's hePEX and AquaPEX. The fittings require copper crimp rings or stainless steel clamp rings, in addition to a proper tool.

I can't remember what couplings I used (whether rifeng or not). I put in a system using slant fin multi pack with Uponor Wirsbo pex. I used the brass crimping rings with a zurn crimper. Its been two years and no problems.
