Comments about 3/4" PEX x 1/2" NPT Brass Female Adapter (Lead Free):

I looked everywhere for a one-piece 3/4" Male pex X 1/2 Female npt fitting. I looked at the big-box stores, mom and pop hardware and even plumbing specialty stores and everyone wanted to use two or three fittings to get me what I needed. I couldn't chance this because it was going in an in-wall shower fixture and I wouldn't accept the leak risk with multiple fittings.
BONUS: shipping was really quick (three days from the time I placed the order). I will use SupplyHouse.com again.

Looked at every big box store and this fitting could not be found. I was going to have to use 4 fittings with 6 crimp ring connections until I found it here. Arrived in a few days and I was back in business. Great selection and fast shipping.

High flow thru the shower head

By BUBBA

Comments about 3/4" PEX x 1/2" NPT Brass Female Adapter (Lead Free):

Used this product to route 3/4 PEX to a shower valve, ostensibly higher flow than a 1/2" PEX tube. Better than trying to make some type of sweat connection from the valve to PEX.

  • 1" PEX x 1" NPT Brass Female Adapter

    Q:

Does this product require a rubber washer in interior female end of the fitting? The washer would go between the NPT you were screwing it into the the female adapter.

No, the NPT thread is a taper thread. if you use teflon tape or pipe dope, you will get a seal.

No - no rubber washer should be used at all. Just a bit of pipe dope and teflon tape. Some people swear by the higher end teflon pipe dope and tape but I just use regular pipe dope and teflon tape and it's just FINE. The trick is using just a nice light smooth application of dope, with not too many windings of tape, and putting it on very smoothly and gently and smoothly turn it on, and then crank it down - but always in a smooth steady manner.
After all your fittings are in place and secured, do a full pressure test - let it fill up slowly. Then place bits of paper towels and look at them regularly to make sure there isn't a slight leak anywhere. If you just are careful and take your time putting them on, you will be absolutely fine. I let my full pressure test run for 72 hours - just to be safe, and then check every single joint with a dry paper towel to make sure there isn't the tiniest leak anywhere. This has done 100% by me so far, with no failures.
With pipe dope alone ... there can be tiny leaks, so use both dope and tape and you'll be set. There is no need whatsoever for a rubber gasket or washer. Those are for temporary applications, like washer hookups - not for permanent ones that are likely to be behind a finished wall, like with a shower rough-in valve to pex supply lines.

I don't believe you would need a washer as it is pipe thread but you should use Teflon tape or equivalent on the threads.
      Hope this helps,

With NPT, you should NOT use a rubber washer. The thread engagement is
what seals the peices together. Use Teflon tape to make installation
      easier.

No. To seal the joint, apply teflon tape to the male pipe threads
before screwing the male section into the adapter.

  • 1/2" PEX x 3/4" NPT Brass Female Adapter

    Q:

Can these fittings be used to connect pex-al-pex?
Asked on 3/1/2013 by Ryan from San Francisco, CA

      A:

No - you use these fittings to adapt PEX to an NPD THREADED connection. Where these are VERY common - is let's say that you are installing a shower. MOST Shower rough-in valves have NPT female threads. So, you would use pipe dope and teflon tape on those threads, then tighten down one of these adapters onto it. NOW - you will be able to connect PEX to that adapter.
EVEN rough-in valves that DO have PEX fittings will often ALSO have 1-2 other ports that ARENT PEX. And this is kinda stupid since then they are selling PEX but you still then need to use a threaded adapter on 1-2 ports! Delta is this way. But ... I really like their rough-in valves since I can get them with built-in stops and they are high quality.

That fitting looks as if it connects an iron 3/4” pipe(threaded on the end) to a 1’2” PEX ( on the male side).-----Original Message-----

Not 100% sure of your question...the pictured fitting goes from 3/4" NPT (national pipe thread) to 1/2" pex. In other words, because this is a female fitting, it would thread on to a 3/4" iron (black or galvanized) pipe and allow connection to a 1/2" PEX pipe.

This is a solid piece. There is no built in swivel. But because the male fitting is pex, usually some rotation is possible even after the compression connection is made.

It depends on what type of thread you will be connecting to. This fitting has a female pipe thread on one side and will connect to male national pipe thread.
