Good reliable circulator

Comments about 009 Cast Iron Circulator, 1/8 HP:

I use this in a harsh environment. It's in an insulated box and runs 24/7 from October until May. I've had some in operation for 8 years or more. One just failed but could have been due to some plumbing changes I made and a short circuit I had from a water leak.

A service tech disagnosed a 2.5 year old pump as bad. PexSupply shipped a replacement right out. He made a mistake, the pump was fine. PEX Supply let me ship it back. Will check the tech next time.

    Q:

Which flange do I need to connect to this pump?
Asked on 2/14/2014 by Don from Grassy creek, nc

      A:

      Hey Don,
I use a 3/4 flange for my 009-F5. The website shows that 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 are options as well. I use this pump to circulate a water/propylene glycol solution from my basement to the roof-solar panels for heating my domestic hot water. The overall height is between 30 and 35 feet. The pump does well and I have had no problems or complaints. From April unitl late October, it runs constantly when the sun is up. It is a good little pump and very quiet. Hope this helps.

most likely the 110-251F but it depends on your pipe size. Make sure it
      fits 00 pumps

    Q:

My 009-f5 has gone thru 5 winters and the cartridge was replaced 2 years ago. Sometime last winter I started hearing a ratling
sound from the pump. However the circulation is still good. What is wrong? Its on an outdoor furnace.

      A:

You might have some foreign material being caught up in the impeller like
      solder.

      Answered on 9/10/2013 by Anonymous
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I've occasionally found that when I take my pump apart there is a small
bit of something stuck in the impeller which I can push out with a
toothpick or wire. When this happens, the pump starts working
asymetrically and it causes a rattling sound. As long as it is not too
clogged, it is still moving the water so the pump doesn't burn up.

    Q:

I the model 009-SF5 the same as 009-F5?
    Asked on 10/27/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

They are the same, other than the fact that the 009-SF5 is stainless steel (necessary to prevent rusting in open systems).

  • 009 Cast Iron Circulator, 1/8 HP

    Q:

what is head range, i see 0 to 34 feet, from the outdoor furance to house is about 65 feet and outside furance is about 10 feet up a small hill. is this the right pump for this system, plus the water boiler in the house is in the basement, there is about 15 feet in height differance of the two boilers
Asked on 7/31/2011 by taz from greenville, va

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Head range refers to the amount of friction that the pump can overcome in order to keep the water moving through the system. It does not actually have anything to do with the distance of the piping. For more information on head loss and sizing circulator pumps, please refer to the following guide from the manufacturer: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1289252668477/41390_PROD_FILE.pdf

    Q:

why is the impeller not holding up and can i buy just this impeller
Asked on 2/7/2011 by lefty from pa.

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The impeller could be having problems for any number of reasons, including the ball bearing getting locked up and a rock or piece of solder jamming it. You cannot buy the impeller by itself, but you can get replacement cartridge part 009-021RP.

No, it does not. Most systems tie the circulator to a switching relay (SR501-2).
