Pex had the best price I could find online [...]. These valve heads seem to last 10-12 years. I would suggest you make sure you use digital thermostats with these. The mercury switches in analog thermostats tend to bounce and arc, not good for your boiler/furnace control lifespan.

It works - but so did the last one, until it quit working. These Taco zone control actuators have a limited life, like light bulbs, and need a steady supply of replacements. I have a box full of failed junkers I keep for parts.

Better buy a few.

Great value for the $

Comments about Zone Valve Power Head (Series 570):

This zone valve power head is a great value for the $. I purchased the valve and it was delivered very quickly for a good price. The quality was the same as the ones I purchased in the past from other stores which charged more for the same product. Installs easily and works well. I would repurchase again and again from Pex Supply in the future, I wish I discovered this supplier sooner!

Comments about Zone Valve Power Head (Series 570):

Have hundreds installed in the facility on both heating and chilled water lines to fan coil units. Replace only a handful of these power heads annually. Quarter-turn twist off makes for fast and easy replacement.

It seems to work

By Bob

from Palmyra IL

Comments about Zone Valve Power Head (Series 570):

I purchased this to replace a failed unit, It probably failed originally because I by passed it and did not heed the information that instructed to remove the power lead to the winding while the bypass lever was operated. I suggest that the warning instructions be written in a manner that does not need a magnifying glass to read them.

Is there a way to check if a valve is bad?

      A:

We'd recommend that you check its voltage with a voltmeter.

voltage to our powerhead, heat from coil heater in powerhead, ease of lever for manual operation going down .

Answered on 1/26/2012 by hvac pro from greater chicagoland
    • A:

Ensure transformer and t-stat are working. I usually use a jumper at the t-stat. regardless. If the valve does not open - it's bad
You can use the manual lever to confirm. if the lever goes down easily it opened and therefore working. If meet resistance halfway down , and feel manual opening its bad.

    Q:

What happens if I leave the vale open--
should I disconnect the wireing from it.---
Asked on 12/30/2011 by Dave from cape cod Ma.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

If you want to leave the valve open manually (because it's not working properly, perhaps), you might as well disconnect the wiring if you don't plan on replacing the head soon. Your system will operate as if there is no zone valve present.
