PEX Tubing Guidelines
Are you looking for a high quality PEX tubing that is offered at a competitive price? ThermaPEX is a PEX-a grade tubing with an oxygen barrier for radiant heat and snow melt systems. It is manufactured by LK PEX in Sweden, which is the second largest PEX manufacturer in Europe. The flexibility and strength make this tubing easy to work with, and it meets NSF standards. Furthermore, this tubing can be installed in a variety of ways, such as using the crimp, clamp, press, or expander systems. There is a 25-year warranty on the product.

This is a great product. We put it in our new contruction basement slab. First rock, then plastic, then foam, then metal wire, then the PEX attached to the wire with zip ties. It went very smooth even at 32'F. The tubing can bend at that temp. about 9 inches. Perfect for putting the tubing 9 inches apart. The 5/8" will deliver more heat than the 1/2" and is much easier to work with than the 1". The tubing is tough. We did make a tubing 'unwinder' which you must have with the 1000' roll. It still was like unwinding a garden hose but with one person in charge of the unwinding, one person in charge of putting the tubing where it goes and 2 people zip tieing, the project went very fast. The tubing has the number of feet on it so we know when we reached 300'. Might have to order all fittings for 5/8" online because our local stores do not carry 5/8" products. Best to sketch out the tubing pattern on plans and then spraypaint the lines to follow with the tubing. This will speed things up for the people zip tieing and let you know about where 300' will be.

Thought I'd try this pex tubing because the price is significantly less that the Uponor/Wirsbo product. Used it in a standard radiant heat installation underfloor running on 6" centers. The install went OK, but was a little dicey on the bends; looked and felt like the pipe was just about to kink, though it did not.And for some reason, almost every time I made a connection, the pex ring slid down the tubing--even the "improved" pex ring with a stop on the end. I was able to prevent this by scuffing up the tubing end with some sandpaper before putting the ring on.Once in, it works fine (and sure hope it does for years to come). So, not the worst product in the world, but I think I'll spend the extra next time and get the Wirsbo tubing.

I am using this product in a hydronic heating system in a boat. There are no straight runs through any part, and this tubing is up to the challange. It is great to work with.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about 1/2" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (1200 ft. coil):
Does not hold memory and recoil back up. You can put it in place and pretty much stays in place.
Worked well to run from manifolds to the radiant heat system (2 manifolds are about 60ft away from pumps). No issues with the PEX, a bit stiff to run in floor joists, but can be done. Works fine with ProPEX fittings.

It's Tubing, came in a roll, worked without issue for the application.
Same product, les money

Used for radiant heat with pro-expandor fittings. A lot less money than Wirsboro HePex and meets the same specs. It does kink a little easier than Wirsboro HePex but if you do kink it, the kinks work out easier as well.

Comments about 1/2" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (1000 ft. coil):
I use a lot of this for radiant floors. Never had any troubles at all. The flexibility is good, numbers easy to read. The boxes are flimsier than Wirsbos, but I've never had any damage in shipping.
A strong, flexible product that installs easily. Can be used in most common locations.
I put down 1,000' of this tubing on foam insulation for a garage floor. This is the first time I have used this brand, I normally use Wirsbo HePEX. ThermaPEX seemed to be a little more flexible than HePEX during the installtion so that made it a bit easier to work with. I have not put any water to it yet so I gave it a four star rating. I may edit my rating once I get some heat into it.
