Description for Watts 0478020

The N170 Master Tempering Valve Series is designed for use in commercial and institutional applications, to mix hot and cold water to reduce high service water temperature to the building distribution piping system. The N170 series is designed for installation at the hot water source. Rough-in dimensions are identical to earlier N170 models making replacement fast and easy. The N170 features bronze body construction, a copper/paraffin thermostat assembly and a lockable temperature adjustment for increased safety. Polysulfone internals resist excessive heat, liming and corrosion, and a single-seat design ensures tight shut-off in the event of cold water supply loss. The N170 is listed to ASSE 1017 and IAPMO cUPC in compliance with CSA B125.3.

            A:

            This valve can only handle water temperatures up to 180°F. If temperatures in a solar-powered system exceed this figure (which they often do), this valve should not be used.
