Comments about Universal Silicon Carbide Non-Integrated Replacement Module:

I am a do it yourselfer. This module was easy to install and is working fine. Read the instructions carefully to be sure you know where each wire goes. All of these modules are "universal" now, which makes things a bit complicated. Just study the wiring diagrams until you are sure you have it right. Pex sells it at an excellent price.

Comments about Universal Silicon Carbide Non-Integrated Replacement Module:

Replaced a couple year old 50E47-170 unit that was acting up, (would light most of the time, then every couple days or weeks wouldn't light - fan just keeps on running). Easy to configure. Some information was confusing about swapping wires on the secondary transformer if there was 140 volts between the L1 and TH, (which I measured, but it still had a green light and the boiler worked fine - I tried swapping wires around to "reverse polarity", but didn't have any success - unit wouldn't operate at all). I pulled apart the old 50E47-170 unit, along with another similar unit that acted the same a couple years prior, and both looked like they burnt up some components. I ended up moving the control module from the attachment point near the combustion chamber to an outside wall of the boiler, (older WM HE-3 boiler). Hopefully this helps the new module last a little longer.

I purchased as a backup since I had to use the backup I had last spring, so I haven't actually used this one. However, being a 'Universal' controller made me want to make sure it would take the place of my unit. I pulled the instructions out and read them, it seems like it's an easy conversion to this unit from my old White Rodgers controller. There is also a host of other controllers besides White Rodgers that it will replace.
