I have used this tubing for two projects now for retorfits in my home. One was with joist tracks, and the latest is with warboard in a gut job in a 15' x 17' room. When I did the joist track retrofit, I had a 300' run that had to be threaded through all the holes that were drilled in the joists....what a PITA. This, combined with the fact that it came in a cardboard box (and my lack of experience), it was very difficult to unwind it and keep it from getting all tangled up. but we got it done. It was a two man job.The most recent project was very easy, used warmboard. The latest stuff comes plastic wrapped, you pop a hole in the center of the packaging, and it just snakes out and uncoils perfectly. I have a home made uncoiler (lazy susan and some 2 x 4's and vertical dowels), this was a one man job that took less than 30 minutes to install in the warmboard. Great packaging now!!!I have also used pex-al-pex before....I would not waste your time with it vs. hePEX plus as the ease of working it makes a HUGE difference. I don't know how you could use pex-al-pex on a joist retrofit system with a long run. There could be benefits to pex-al-pex that I am not aware of, but I won't be using it in the future. Only the hePEX for me. Plus it uses standard PEX fittings, makes it super easy to connect.

Do not try to run multiple 3/4" hePex through a small chaseway by yourself. I just ran 350ft. of hePex in my basement ceiling then into 8 radiators , and it was not pleasant. I work in construction, and if someone offered me 3 days of either; pulling 3/4" pex, or pull heavy gauge electrical wire, or doing roofing or pouring foundations, pulling 3/4" pex would be my last choice. This stuff is not your garden hose. Pex is flexible, compared to black iron, or concrete, but this is all relative. But honestly, threaded pipe is easier on your shoulders then pex, not faster mind you, but easier. Would I use this system again? definitely, but with help next time. Actually, I am looking forward to using the 1/2" aquapex to replace the copper in my house (that by myself). That has to be easier. Good luck

Wersbo HePex is the only way to go!!!I

Comments about 3/4" hePEX plus - (300 ft. coil):
I used the 3/4" HePex for supply and return runs for an in-floor heat job no the second floor of an 11,000 sq. ft. house with a boiler on the first floor and one on the second floor. I pulled the pex through the floor trusses by meself. The longest run was 120' supply and 120'return with 6 zones upstairs. The only way it will go well is to use the Pex uncoiler also by Uponor/Wirsbo. If you use all HePex then you can use cast iron circulators, flanges and steel expansion tanks.
Great quality PEX at a Competitive Price
Comments about 1/2" hePEX plus - (300 ft. coil):
I've used this for both heating connections in my house and as radiant tubing in a slab. In both cases, a pleasure to use and much better quality than other similarly priced products available from the local supply house. Takes a fitting well, is more flexible, and while it's only happened once, a joy to heat back to normal in the event of a kink. We also used this tubing in an office building about 12 years ago, and we've never had any problems with it. I use stainless clamps on brass fittings.
Hard work for manual tool.

Comments about 1" hePEX plus - (100 ft. coil):
I researched heavily on the most durable and versatile pex. I decided pex A was the best pex being able to use all fitting types, inability to bust when freezing, and the ability to spin fitting after connecting them. The only bad thing about this product is that with a manual tool it is a big work out to expand to proper diameter and is very fatiguing if you are making multiple connections without a break. If you have a good budget I recommend the mechanical expander otherwise start lifting weights to get stronger!
Always a great product
Uponor is not the cheapest PEX but definitely our preferred brand. Used this hePEX in a radiant system with zero issues.

Comments about 3/4" hePEX plus - (100 ft. coil):
Product is great you can maintain your i.d. so as not to reduce water flow which in turn will preserve your circulator pump and increase heat distribution. Also it's clear enough that you can see air in the lines.
Installer stated very strong product no worries.
My first choice for PEX
from Northwest NJ
Comments about 1/2" hePEX plus - (100 ft. coil):
Long ago My choice was Embasey or Wirsbro pex. Can no longer fing Enbasey pex. Went to Wirsbro brought manual tool did one job and said never again. Switched to pex that I could use crimp rings on. I was given the millwalkee 12 volt expander tool and with the stop rings it a no brainer. so easy and so much neater. I prefer the white tubing instead of the colors that way your install won't stand out so much. As time passes the white turns to grey and blends in even better. Pex is not that easy to work with but with the 12 volt expander tool its not that bad - Buy one, your first house will pay for it ! I only wish they would come out with sweat to pex 90% I keep asking but nothing yet

Comments about 5/16" hePEX plus - (250 ft. coil):
I moved into a foreclosed house 3 years ago, which had baseboard heat and the great room had only one wall of register. That first winter we were never able to get the room over 65 deg. The next fall I installed radiant floor heat in that room and that Winter it was the most comfortable room in the house. Since then I have converted the rest of the house. Very pleased with the product.
