I wouldn't used anything else for installing water piping!

Comments about 1/2" ProPEX Ring with Stop:

Using the expander tool, there is nothing more easy than using the propex system. If you do a lot of piping, buy the tool, and use the propex system. Saves time and effort.

propex 1/2" ring w/ stop

By layne

Comments about 1/2" ProPEX Ring with Stop:

i had some that seemed to be different sizes. slipped off the pex-a while some were tight fit. both worked as expected. no leaks. propex is the easiest way to connect pex. I did have some of the rings that were not usable, they were distorted(mis formed at factory), but that was not very many. would highly recommend for building with pex.

These make many things possible

By Ted N.

Comments about 1/2" ProPEX Ring with Stop:

With these, and the M12 tool, I can now help my parents and siblings solve some of their plumbing problems.

The first couple of rings were sacrificed to my learning efforts. I was glad to have the 50-count bag at my disposal. As each fitting requires at least 2 rings, you do go through these kind of fast in an involved project.

Great!

Comments about 3/4" ProPEX Ring with Stop:

These are by far simpler to use than crimp/clamps and easier to remove when necessary too.
The stops facilitate the perfect connection. Note, however: A few times when splicing in a fitting or altering existing pex configuration, I had some failure w/ the stops if the parts became wet from remnant water in the existing line, whereby the ring slid and backed off the joint during expansion. So--just make sure your tube and ring are dry.

its just a different system it's an expandable pex with expandable joints the pext that is used must have a memory in it.it works pretty good no leaks.

Stability. The crimp rings can corrode. Especially important for plumbing buried in walls. If it's in a place you will likely make changes, shark bites may be better because you end up cutting out propex and the pipe gets shorter.

      A:

My understanding is that the rings simply reinforce the holding properties of the Aquapex tubing.  When using Aquapex, you might even be able to in practice get away without using these rings (though I'd never, ever try that).  There are different grades of tubing, each of which has different properties.  This is meant for use with the highest grade of tubing.  If you were using another brand of the similar grade, these MIGHT work.  But I wouldn't chance it.  The only way I'd even think of trying it is if you contacted Uponor and they said yes, do it.  Even then I'd be hesitant.  If it ended up being the wrong choice, imagine all the labor exposing and replacing all of these, not to mention water damage from any leaks.

You can use these rings only on type" A" pex tubing. Checked the tubing that
you have and make sure it says type a.---------------------- I don't know if
you're aware that these rings can only be put on within expansion tool. I
think it's the strongest connection you can make.

You should only use the Pex pipe designed for that ring as all Pex pipe is

      A:

      Hi,
No; the Pro Pex system will only work with Pex-A. Pex-B does not have enough crosslinks and will not work with the ProPex system.
So you can either use Pex-A or use the Stainless ring or the brass rings. You can also use those on Pex-A as well.
      Thanks

Those rings are to be used with aquapex tubing, not the tubing you buy at

What is the difference or purpose between Blue Print / Black Print / or Red Print expansion fittings?
Asked on 3/13/2012 by Spudgun from Denver

    5 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

There is no functional difference. Uponor is phasing out the colored rings (which can be used to differentiate hot and cold lines) and will only offer black-print rings going forward. Stops are meaningful difference between ProPEX rings of the same size. Rings with stops make it easy to know exactly how far the ring should go on to the tubing.

      A:

There is absolutely no difference between the red blue or black printed
expansion rings. The red and blue ones are used to differentiate between
the hot and cold lines on a white or single color pipe used for everything.

      A:

ProPEX rings work with PEX-A tubing, ProPEX fittings, and an expansion tool (such as the Milwaukee 2432-22 kit).

Answered on 12/1/2011 by PexSupply Staff from NY
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Only one side of these rings will slip over the Uponor or Aquapex pipe. You then need an expander tool that slips into the end of the pipe and you then expand the pipe and ring together. The expander tool has a tapered head so you can gradually expand the pipe/ring combo until fully expanded. Withdraw the expander tool, quickly insert your fitting (elbow, tee, etc.) and hold for a few seconds while the pipe/ring shrink back down over the fitting.
