Best to use something that can handle heat..I used hydraulic cement which sets in a few minutes with no risk of fire.  Joe

I would not suggest that you do. Pack non Kraft face insulation around it.
Make sure you do not block any oenings around it. I hope this helps.

      A:

Although this kit doesn't come with one, you'd need to incorporate a condensate drain if your heater requires it.

    Q:

    Hello,

I am installing a TK-3 tankless water heater on my basement wall. The concrete wall is 10" thick will this kit be adequate and does the adapter fit on the TK-3 unit with no issues? thank you Scott Nottestad

      A:

Unfortunately this unit would not be sufficient as this wall thimble only works with walls up to 7" thick. None of the units we carry on our site work for 10" thick walls. The manufacturer may make such a unit but it would be a special order unit. If you would like more information you can contact a customer service representative.

    • A:

A wall thimble isn't needed for passing through non-combustible materials (i.e. concrete). However, you might actually be passing above the concrete wall and through the siding so I would guess that the included thimble would work.
