My plumber had to reseat one of the check valves to get it to operate initially. Then 2 days later, I had to reseat the other check valve to keep it from spurting out water. So far it is ok, but I was expecting it to work flawlessly out of the box, not needing adjustments.
Shipping and timely delivery was well handled.

Comments about 3/4" Wilkins 975XL Reduced Pressure Principle Assembly:

I have worked with, rebuilt, and repaired these units and they are usually quite good and work well for a long time.

I got one that was bad out of the box. It failed to open the second valve when it was tested.

The people at Pex took very good care of me by sending a return label and a new unit that goes in tomorrow

Comments about 1" Wilkins 975XL Reduced Pressure Principle Assembly:

The Wilkins 975XL reduced pressure principle assembly that I had installed about 5 years ago went bad. I found your web site online with the right product at the right price. I call the irrigation company that installed the first one to replace the new one. I told them the price I paid and they wanted the name of the web site. The one they wanted to sell me was a lot more then I paid. So I thank you and my lawn thanks you.

      A:

I had same problem. There are 2 big check valves and they can be removed and cleaned. When they are out, turn on the water and let it run for a few seconds to flush the system. Caution, they are held in by big springs under compression. The valve gaskets can also be removed and turned over to have a new surface for sealing. I had to do this on a new unit. There is also a repair kit available with new seals, etc...

Can this replace Febco 285Y 1" without modifications on existing plumbing?
    Asked on 4/11/2011 by Niki

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

According to the manufacturer, the 1-975XL is 13" in length and the Febco 285Y is 12 3/4" in length. Therefore, some field adjustments may be required.

If the 975 XL is discharging on a consistent basis would it just need to be rebuilt or would it be another issue with the buildings plumbing.?
    Asked on 10/11/2010 by cal

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

It is suggested that the unit be flushed out because any sort of sediment lodged into the assembly can cause discharge.
